North Toronto Team to be Canadian Ambassadors for Youth Soccer in North West England This March
North Toronto Soccer Club's Nitros U16 Girls team is travelling to North West England in March 2015 to train, play and volunteer for 10 days. Eighteen dedicated youth soccer players are joining their coach, Dave Kelly, who hails from Blackpool in North West England for this once in a lifetime adventure and experience. The Nitros U16 Girls team is raising funds for three key initiatives:
1. Raise $3,000.00 so the team can purchase and donate soccer equipment and school supplies for "schools-in-need" in the Blackpool and Lancashire areas;
2. Raise $3,000.00 to offset the travel costs for some of our U16 team players who have difficulty paying for the entire trip themselves; and
3. Raise $5,000.00 for U16 Girls team coach and assistant coach to travel with the team to England.
During March break 2015 this group of energetic Canadian youth soccer players will be based out of Blackpool, North West England where Coach Kelly taught science at the local Collegiate High School and also managed the Blackpool FC Ladies team. Sadly, the Collegiate High School recently closed it's doors and has merged with another school to become the Blackpool Aspire Academy. In support of this change, the Nitros U16 girls team wants to provide support to the new school as well as volunteer at the local St. John's Primary School to share with the kids some Canadian culture and some of their own soccer 'football' skills!
Many of the Blackpool and Lancashire area schools in North West England have been under serviced for many years. In respect of their coach and his home, the Nitros U16 girls team from Toronto, Canada would like to share and inspire some of the youth from this area of North West England to look beyond their own surroundings and dream big!
Apart from our volunteer activities, the Nitros U16 girls team will play three friendly matches against against local teams, and will tour not only the Blackpool FC facilities and other local sites but also nearby Liverpool and Manchester sites as well.
The Nitros U16 girls team plays in the Central Girls Soccer League in Ontario, Canada at the L3 level. They practice three times a week and play once a week. We encourage you to listen to Coach Dave's video message for more information!
Nitros on three - one, two, three. Go Nitros!
