In 2013, we had been doing sketch comedy as The Straight Guys and producing music videos as The Monster Closet in Houston for a few years and realized we wanted something more (just like Ariel in The Little Mermaid). Justin wrote this weird short story, and Joey kept telling him it "this doesn't make any sense" and to "keep trying buddy." This happened several times over the course of a year or so, and then finally Justin had like 150 pages of story that he claimed "definitely make sense now," and Joey was like "Woah woah....I am not making any sense of this still, but we need to trim it up." So after another few months of Justin streamlining the script, and despite not ever really knowing if the movie actually made any sense, we took the plunge into shooting (what was now called "NOTHING REALLY HAPPENS" ['cause that made sense I guess])...... but in our spare time. This spare time thing was a huge mistake, that went on for 16 months (a BATMAN movie takes less time in production), but we finally finished! But then it still didn't make sense....so we had to add another 7 months of re-shoots and editing.
This has been 4 years in the making (that's how long most people take to finish High School. Wow) but, guess what?....the movie finally makes a reasonable amount of sense now. HOORAY!
In all seriousness...it's been an amazing ride getting to work and play with some of our favorite people in Houston, while meeting some awesome new people along the way who for whatever reason trusted us enough when we guaranteed that it would eventually be a real movie they could watch.
Sooo, gather up your friends, and come see the film on June 26th and celebrate it being (almost) finished with us! All the funds will go to getting this film out to festivals in the best way possible in an effort to get accepted, find an audience, and make more movies!
