About Nuage:
Saint Petersburg, Russia-based Dmitry Kuzmin aka Nuage
stands out from the electronic production crowd by being an exceptional talent
in so many ways. His production skills are well-developed, his tracks impress
for their remarkable craft, and he possesses a gifted melodic command, too
Nuage is French for cloud; the floating, ever morphing mass
of vapour that floats above our heads. His music is light, dreamlike, floaty
and cloud-like melodies make a truly pleasurable listening experience,
containing a wide-variety of influences to keep your attention while your head
is firmly planted in the clouds.
Dmitry began producing under the moniker, Nuage, around 6
years ago. While these early releases were deeply rooted in drum n bass.
His music has definitely changed last two year. As a
result, he wrote “Music of Branches” a first full-length album, signed and
released on Dublin-based Absys Records.
Nuage has recently shifted his sound to encompass a wider
range of influences and styles, allowing his music to express a broader
spectrum of emotions. “Music of Branches” was inspired by funky garage or deep
bassy house to modern 170 bpm electronica mixed with a special touch.
His next releases were usually about pulsing 4x4 beat. New
sound was represented by So Long EP from Translation Records. This label became
a publisher his next full-length album called Prints Of You. Ranging from
minimal house to R&B inspired vocal melodies, Prints Of You showcases
the new and stunning music being released out of Russia.
Now, after latest releases on Roche Musique and
Food Music, Nuage sound is definitely more about house or 4×4 music currently,
but he still have a lot of 160-170bpm ideas and a significant part of his fans
still like him as a specialist in this style.
Cloud Maps story
Dmitry: From time to time I hear that some of my works on 170 bpm should be released on
vinyl. So, now you have an opportunity to get them. I’ve chosen the best 12 tracks of mine which were published in digital only. With the support of friendly labels was compiled the new album called Cloud Maps, the first release of the crowdfunding label Vinyl Backers.
Vinyl Backers was founded by Mikhail Antonov vinyl collector and owner
of Audio Plants Recordings and Burelom Music vinyl labels (https://soundcloud.com/audioplants). The mission is to
prepare demanded releases without any style restrictions and principally on
vinyl
Mikhail: In the past record labels produced thousands of vinyl records which were sold through the distribution systems and vinyl stores around the world. Music on vinyl is not huge industry today. Now only small group of people is producing it for vinyl supporters and this passion unites them. Crowdfunding movement is gathering pace around the world and it might change the vinyl industry. It allows to predict the actual demand for future vinyl releases and gives record labels and artists opportunity to produce vinyl releases directly for customers. When I realized that I run Vinyl Backers, and now I am happy to represent you our first release, which wouldn’t exist without your participation!
