The Problem:

Weather protection is one of the biggest industries in the world and one of the most important facets of daily life. It consumes the news and determines what we will wear or bring with us everyday when we leave our home.

We can land a rover on a comet and design an ultra thin smart phone but we are still relying on two antiquated products for our complete weather protection needs -- the umbrella and the raincoat & hood!

Let's face it our current weather protection gear --- just isn't doing the job!

Although the umbrella is most widely known for inverting it is not the biggest problem. The major drawback with the umbrella is; You Have to Hold It!

And for our only current hands-free solution; the raincoat --- well most would agree it is a far cry from an acceptable one. It provides  limited protection at best and doesn't provide any protection for anything you are holding or using; i.e phone, camera etc...

Most everyone can imagine a time they wished they had a true hands-free umbrella whether working or just doing everyday basic activities.

The Solution!

An Idea is Born!

Several years ago while sitting in a coffee shop in NYC on a miserable rainy windy day I began to take notice of how everyone was struggling with their umbrella. I also noticed the faces of those working who were relying merely on a raincoat. It was at that moment an image appeared in my mind of what an alternative weather  protection device/umbrella should look like. I ran to a desk and sketched it.

Introducing Nubrella

"Nubrella is a breakthrough product innovation. It is a Hands-Free, Inversion Proof -- new weather protection device conveniently worn backpack style!"

Nubrella launched it's initial 'bubble" like model which was presented on the hit TV show Shark Tank. But the Shark's were a little too greedy so we didn't end up doing a deal.

Although this design was successfully sold in 82 countries with significant feedback it became very apparent we needed return to the design table.

Customers around the world loved the hands-free but found being fully enclosed in bubble was; overkill protection, did not allow for communication with others, impaired vision and was a bit 'dorky' looking. And we agreed!

So Nubrella was redesigned and we met all of our design goals and more!

Our new model is being hailed as; The Ultimate User-Friendly backpack style worn open-front Hands-Free & Wind-Resistant umbrella design.

Our new design provides protection against; rain, snow, wind and sun! Millions still hold an umbrella to block the sun. Nubrella finally offers these users a hands-free solution as well eliminating the tiresome act of having to hold an umbrella and offers far superior protection over a hat.

How It Works:

Nubrella is designed to be conveniently worn backpack style and simply function like a hood going back and forth when needed.

When not with the simple press of a button the canopy springs back behind you and stores down you back like a hood --  eliminating the need to carry anything!

With Nubrella's patented clever extended aerodynamic canopy wind simply flows over and around the canopy completely denying any ability to invert. We have also designed the canopy to be very stabilized to manage strong winds.

In addition Nubrella has extended out the coverage in the front to cover the use of smart phones and tablets.

 Finally with with extended coverage on the sides and rear it blocks wind chill keeping the user significantly warmer! Nubrella is ideal for a snowstorm -- go ahead and shovel or walk and be completely protected...

Where & When?

Yet to fully understand Nubrella and its value propositions it is designed for those who have to be outdoors for extended periods of time  whether working or just doing everyday basic activities. It is not designed to replace your traditional umbrella to run tot the car or other very simple uses......

With this said with feedback from the customer and our own study we have identified over 100 applications/usages in the commercial and recreational fields.

Sizes & Color

Nubrella will launch with a one size fits all. Nubrella can be adjusted with the straps for a comfort fit. adjustable with the backpack straps so it should fit most all. Nubrella plans several other sizes in the near future, i.e children, extra large...

Initially Nubrella will have a UV sun reflective black waterproof material. Yet, as seen in  the illustration Nubrella will have one clear panel in front for perfect vision and the sides clear for excellent peripheral vision.

With a minimum quantity order Nubrella can be made of any color. design or logo/branding; i.e. camouflage, Nike, pink etc....

Is this Revolutionary?

Well, we will leave that up to you, but we certainly think so! Why? Because we are delivering a solution to a huge unmet need in the market.

For those who require a backpack with their Nubrella, we have designed a custom Nubrella backpack in the rear. Once you get where your going --- snap it off and you have a full standard backpack.

Why Our backpack?

Due to Nubrella's extensive engineering for stability and fit to add a backpack it needed certain weight and size dimensions to attach to Nubrella. So your own backpack simply won't work.

Yet, we will be offering our backpack as an accessory at a considerable discount vs. the same backpack you would purchase in a store.

A streamlined version for use inside sport stadiums around the world. Nubrella will be working with the NFL, NASCAR, World Soccer Federation and the NCAA to get approved for use inside the stadium and have your favorite team logo or driver on the rear.

Your contribution will allow us to complete the tooling process - approximately 60 days. Once completed samples will be approved and we will be ready for immediate manufacturing. 

We plan to have Nubrellas in your hands (or should we say no hands needed) in early 2015 March-April.

We've Done This Before

Nubrella launched it's initial 'bubble' like design several years ago. We have worked with the leading product design & engineering firms in the country, developed full set of CAD and 2D drawings, completed tooling, patented, sourced manufacturing partners, fulfillment partner, built an e-commerce website and shipped to 82 countries.

So Nubrella 2.0 will only be easier. We have learned a lot from launching our first design. We know what to look out for, how to properly plan, execute and deliver a very high quality product.

Risks & Challenges

There are always risks and Nubrella has risks as well.

Yet, we are confident the risk levels are quite low. This is mainly due because all the hard work is done and Nubrella is ready fro immediate tooling and manufacturing.

Most all risk is tied to timing. We have to approve tooling and can not control how busy our manufacturing partner may be at the time of our orders. Yet with current relationships we will receive priority and have a representative in China to help insure the entire process.
