The festival tour has started for One MIllion Steps, after the amazing world premiere in Istanbul, the film is steadily making it's way into film festivals around the world, confirmed screenings in St Louis (USA premiere), South Korea, Norway, Italy and Egypt, and more coming in! We want to thank our editor Georg Petzold for his dedicated work. Due to the second shooting period, when we had to go back to Istanbul to film the protests, our film became more expensive than calculated. Our postproduction team works on low budget and high energy. The first rough preview of the film in Stadthaus Ulm was very promising.

The adventure continues - Istanbul people are on the streets - we have to go back!
Is there a link between the story of a lost tap dancer, searching for the way on the streets of istanbul - and the reality in Istanbul now? Thousands of people on the streets, demanding another way?
Yes! It needs to be revealed... This is why the core Lady-Team Eva and Marije go back to Istanbul and continue filming. It's necessary to reveal the fury and discontent below the hospitable people of Istanbul. We ask for their stories
To cover the additional costs of 2000 € we started a new term of our campaign! Of course we will still give out our lovely perks, but we raise the money directly through our filmaccount, and not through the indiegogo system.

In May 2013 tap dancer Marije Nie, filmmaker Eva Stotz and a small film crew will travel to Istanbul to explore different parts of this huge city. The feet of the tap dancer lead us through the film, engaging with the rhythms of Istanbul and seeking out stories about extraordinary or even life-changing steps that people took in their lives.
Istanbul seems to us the ideal city for collecting stories and different rhythms and music, because it's a crossroad of old and new, East and West, religions, people, architecture, music… Both the industrial beats and breathtaking visually exciting scenery of a booming metropolis, ánd the subtle poetry at the edges of the continents of Asia and Europe. Tap Dance creates a spontaneous atmosphere of interaction, because people instantly react to it. It stimulates the ability to create rhythms with our own body, combining this with music in a powerful yet whimsical way. Above all, it's highly communicative. The soundtrack of the film consists of meetings of the tap dancer with musicians living and working in Istanbul.
One Million Steps combines film, life stories and rhythms, and is a reflection upon the millions of steps we take in our life. How do we take them, and where do they take us?
One Million Steps - more than a movie
On our website www.onemillionsteps-project.com we collect stories of steps. Both footsteps and figurative steps that took your life in one direction or another.We want to build up a platform for exchange, Feedback and maybe encouragement during those scary moments. After the film is finished in July 2013, One Million Steps will go travelling again. We plan screenings embedded in Events where Dance and Rhythm is the centre focus. Together with London Event Producer Pigalle Tavakolli, we are working on a concept for Amsterdam, Berlin and Istanbul.
Who is behind One Million Steps?
One Million Steps is brought together by Berlin filmmaker Eva Stotz and Amsterdam Tap Dancer Marije Nie. We met in Summer 2012 and instantly discovered a shared passion: Eva, a travelling filmmaker (www.globalhome-themovie.com, Sollbruchstelle - Devil hides in doubt) is always seeking to capture the unique rhythms of places. Marije, a dancing percussionist, is constantly noticing beats and playing with them. Now we bring it together. Both have ten years of experience, have been awarded prizes, and invited around the world to perform and show their work. See more on our websites.
Why are we out here and what are we requesting?
After jumping into a spontaneous first shoot in December we saw the potential in the project. Now we hope you see this too and get curious about to see this film. Not an easy job to make a campaign with a topic that is not easy to grasp. We both know it's going to be something strong and beautiful in the end. Now we hope to stimulate your imagination with photos, videos and our website. Feel free to contact us if you have further questions.
With the money we wish to gather we will bring a small crew together and film two weeks in Instanbul in May 2013. The film will be edited in June to a 20 - 30 minutes documentary. And here's the calculation how we want to invest your money:

What happens if we don't make it?
Between the end of the campaign and the shooting in May we have some more time to promote the project in all various creative ways. We would shoot anyway and do the film. It would turn out to be shorter, not half an hour but maybe only 15 min. 15 Burner minutes then! In any case we will gather enough that we can travel again to Istanbul and shoot there - this ask our experience.

Das Abenteuer geht weiter - Istanbul's Menschen sind auf den STrassen - und wir müssen dorthin zurück!
Gibt es eine Verbindung zwischen der Geschichte einer verlorenen Tänzerin auf den STrassen Istanbuls und der Realität in dieser Stadt im Moment? Tausende von Menschen auf den Strassen die einen neuen Weg fordern? Wir denken JA, uns deswegen müssen wir zurück und unsere Dreharbeiten für One Million Steps fortsetzen. Wir müssen nochmals hinreisen um den Anliegen der Menschen einen Raum in unserem Film zu geben, den veränderten Beat der Stadt einzufangen, und zu zeigen dass es unter der gastfreundlichen, fröhlichen Oberfläche der Menschen brodelt.
Wir reisen mit einem Minimalenteam, Eva Stotz und Marije Nie.
Um die Zusatzkosten zu decken für Flüge, Unterkunft, Technikmiete, Schnittassistentin und Cutteringage haben wir einen erneuten Aufruf gestartet. Wir benötigen 2000 € um diese Kosten zu decken. Jede kleine Unterstützung hilft uns auf diesem Weg. Vielen Dank!

Über den Film
One Million Steps handelt von den Rhythmen der Moderne: erforscht in Istanbul, übersetzt von den Füßen einer expressiven Stepptänzerin und interpretiert zusammen mit den Menschen dieser Stadt. Das Projekt verbindet Film, Lebensgeschichten und Tanzevents zu einer Reflexion über die Millionen der Schritte die wir gehen in unserem Leben. Wie tun wir sie, und wohin bringen sie uns?
Marije's Tanz erzählt rhythmische Geschichten mit den Füßen. Er wirkt kraftvoll, humoristisch oder nachdenklich - und ist vor allem eins: kommunikativ. Stepptanz ist mehr Laufen als Tanzen, mehr Rhythmus als Musik, und deswegen perfekt um mit Menschen und dem Umfeld zu interagieren. Istanbul bietet eine breite Palette von spannenden Rhythmen mit denen wir spielen möchten. Seien es die industriellen Beats einer boomenden Metropole oder die magische Poesie an den Rändern der Kontinente.
Warum ist es ein "Projekt"?
One Million Steps ist mehr als nur ein Film. Auf unserer Webseite www.onemillionsteps-project.com sammeln wir Geschichten von Schritten. Die, die mit Füßen gemacht werden, aber auch von Schritten von Entscheidungen die ein Leben in die eine oder andere Richtung gelenkt haben. Wir möchten eine Plattform aufbauen für Austausch, Feedback, vielleicht Ermutigung, und die Inspiration die Menschen bekommen teilen.
Nachdem der Film fertig ist (vorraussichtlich im Juli 2013) wird One Million Steps auf die Reise gehen. Wir möchten die Screenings im Rahmen von Events stattfinden lassen, bei dem Tanz und Rhythmus im Zentrum stehen. Zusammen mit Londoner Event Produzentin Pigalle Tavakolli arbeiten wir an einem Konzept erstmals für Amsterdam, Berlin und Istanbul.
Wer steht hinter One Million Steps?
Wir, das ist die Berliner Filmemacherin Eva Stotz und Stepptänzerin Marije Nie aus Amsterdam. Wir haben uns im Sommer 2012 kennengelernt und eine gemeinsame Leidenschaft entdeckt: Eva, als reisende Filmemacherin (www.globalhome-themovie.com, Sollbruchstelle - Devil hides in doubt) hat schon viele spezifische Rhythmen an unterschiedlichen Orten eingefangen. Marije, eine tanzende Schlagzeugerin, nimmt beständig Beats wahr und improvisiert mit ihnen. Nun bringen wir es zusammen. Beiden haben zehn Jahre erfolgreiche Berufserfahrung hinter sich, wurden ausgezeichnet und international eingeladen, mehr über unsere Arbeit auf unseren Webseiten, folge den Links.
Worum bitten wir Euch?
Nachdem wir spontan einen ersten Dreh im Dezember organisiert haben, sahen wir das Potential des Projekts, und hoffen jetzt dass ihr dies auch erkennt und Lust bekommt diesen Film zu sehen. Es ist großartig und inspirierend von Anfang an im Austausch mit seinem Publikum zu sein, Fragen beantworten wir gerne!
Mit dem Geld um das wir Euch bitten stellen wir eine kleine Filmcrew in Istanbul zusammen um im Mai zwei weitere Wochen dort zu drehen. Das Filmmaterial wird im Juni geschnitten, und im Juli 2013 wird die 20-30 Minütige Tanzdoku fertig sein. Hier die Kalkulation wie wir das Geld investieren möchten:

Das sind alle minimale Budgets und gehen von leidenschaftlicher Initiative aller Beteiligten aus. Jede noch so kleine Unterstützung wird gefeiert und hilft uns das Projekt voran zu bewegen. Was passiert wenn wir unser Kampagnenziel nicht erreichen?
Zwischen dem Ende der Kampagne und dem Drehstart haben wir noch zwei Monate um auf alle möglichen kreativen Wege weitere Unterstützung zu finden. Fakt ist: wir drehen und machen den Film! Doch vielleicht wird er kürzer werden - und es werden nur 15 min - die knallen!
Was hast du davon?
Neben den schönen Perks wirst du auf etwas das so normal ist wie "gehen", eine neue Perspektive bekommen. Vielleicht wird der Film dich anregen deine eigenen Schritte neu zu reflektieren.
