What is One+Love?

One + Love (pronounced “One Plus Love”) is an app that instantly connects users to local LGBTQ/LGBTQ – friendly organizations, groups, events, meeting places, businesses, shelters, clinics, service providers, social events, and other resources. It’s an LGBTQ community center made mobile, putting your community right in your pocket! This geo-sensitive app points the way to the closest LGBTQ-relevant resources in your area.

Why One+love?

One+Love is the 21st century version of the bookstores, bars, clubs, and media that were often the only way for LGBTQ people to find community. We’ve listened to you and heard that many of us wish there was a way to conveniently access all of the LGBTQ-relevant resources in their communities. Wish no more!

With your support, One+Love will be the virtual watering hole to find out what’s going on in the world (news/entertainment features), what’s going on in your community (in-app mapping to nearby events and resources) and what’s going on with new friends (chat, messaging, social networking features). Looking for a trans* reading group? A queer cooking class? We got you; One+Love connects you.

So what is it?  It’s one of the signature features of the app. It’s a circular dial that allows you locate yourself along the sexual and gender identity spectrum. You can orbit the planet of LGBTQ identities and tap into communities that "get you"– and organizations and other resources that “get it.” This app feature allows you to cue your crew, collect your folks. And leave checkboxes far behind.

With our slider there's no need to contain your fluidity!

It’s for anyone within the LGBTQ alphabet who is excited about using technology to spark more connection and community. One+Lovers are curious and want to know what’s going on around them and are poised to tap and swirl to find out more about their world.

FAQs

Is One+Love free?

Yes! One+Love will always be free. It’s important to us that this app be accessible to any LGBTQ community member who needs it.

When is the app coming out?

We’re shooting for late December 2014. At the very latest, Valentine’s Day 2015. Seems fitting, doesn’t it?

Is the app secure?

Absolutely. “Opt in” is our mantra. You choose how much info (eg, where you’re located) you want to share — it’s all about your comfort level. We also won’t be storing your data.

Will I be able to use the app for my area once the beta is finalized?

We’re rolling out the app in major U.S. cities at first, but other areas in the country will be included as soon as possible.

I don’t own a smartphone. Can I still use the app?

While the app is designed for smartphones, a web-based portal is in the works!

What about compatibility?

We'll be doing extensive testing to ensure that the One+Love app is stable on Android, iOS and Windows. Bugs will be worked out during the first month of launch. Our posse of beta testers will also help us troubleshoot!

I need this app now. How quickly will resources be added?

Your enthusiasm inspires us! We'll be adding resources as quickly as we can -- but we will need to make sure they undergo our vetting and verification process first. We want you to have only the most current, highest quality resources at your fingertips!
