The Story
Oliver Hobbs was okay with dying alone...until he actually did die alone, in 2055, at the age of 60. Instead of moving on to the next life, Oliver woke up in his 21-year-old body on the worst night of his life: the night of the party where he lost his dream girl, Alicia, to another man. Figuring this is the universe's way of telling him he screwed up, big-time, Oliver spends the night trying to win Alicia over. However, Oliver has always been an odd duck, and his ability to talk to women hasn't improved in his second life. Meanwhile, his romantic adversary, Bobby Wallis (AKA Alicia's future husband), thwarts Oliver at every turn, and a DJ who just happens to go by "Reaper" tails Oliver all night, dispensing little gems of wisdom while also maybe-possibly being an agent of death.
"Only Lonely" is a lot of things. It's a short film that doubles as a senior capstone for a group of extremely driven Montana State University film students. It's also a dark comedy with a lot of heart. And above all, it's a story about second chances, being young, and seeing people for who they truly are.
What We Need & What You Get
Making a film, even a short one, takes a lot. Whether it be the time it takes in pre-production, the money it takes to get the film into production, or the hours spent in an edit bay in post-production, it's quite the undertaking for all involved. (And the fact that we're all students, juggling this with our school schedules, makes this even more fun.) We are looking for help with funding the following production expenditures:
- Camera Rental
- Location Rental
- U-Haul Rental
- Costumes
- Props
- Food (a cast and crew that is fed is a happy cast and crew)
- Hard drives
- Insurance
In return you can choose to claim a variety of perks: everything from a thank you email from the crew, to getting executive producer credit on the film! We will also be updating this page as well as our Facebook page throughout the campaign.
Other Ways You Can Help
If you can't contribute, you can help us out by sharing this campaign on any of your social media platforms such as Facebook, or Twitter! You can also tell your friends and family about us. Every dollar counts and will go toward making a great film!
