Born in the backroom of the famous Freddys Bar in Brooklyn, Opera on Tap has grown from a few opera-singing friends who needed more opportunities to do what they love into a national movement. With 16 chapters across the country, programming ranging from barroom concerts to in-school performances to new works creation, development and production, AND a network of over 500 classical performers and creators, Opera on Tap has arrived on the American cultural scene as one of the most far-reaching proponents of opera-advocacy in the nation.
We sing opera for everybody- big or small, rich or poor and we do it for the price of a drink. In 2014 OOT saw the launch of 3 new Chapters and the triumph of our first full production of an opera we commissioned and produced at the NY International Fringe Festival. 2015 will mark our 10th anniversary as a company. To celebrate this milestone, we want to come out singing even louder than we already do. We want to tour our original opera to our Chapters, provide scholarship for our performers nationwide and strengthen our national network by adding more administrative support for our fearless Chapter managing divas and divos across the country.
What We Need & What You Get
We have laid the foundation for this national network quite literally on a dime. While our reach is big, our national budget is very small. If we reach our $15,000 goal for general operating support, we will increase our national budget by 17%. JUST IMAGINE WHAT WE CAN DO WITH A BUDGET INCREASE LIKE THAT!

ACTUALLY HAVE A MARKETING BUDGET!- We’ve done everything up until now on a dime, on the web and on the backs of our volunteer staff. With money raised we will have a national marketing fund that ALL of our chapters will be able to access to pay for marketing expenses related to their own productions and performances.
