How I Got Here
Most of you may already know of my obsession with movies. Well this was my first real shot at making one. But this isn't just about me. A small group of extremely talented friends of mine helped make this story come to life, and we all want the best possible final product to show for our hard work. Here's the lowdown:
- I shot this short film for the Louisiana Film Prize and submitted a rough cut
- In my rough cut, the coloring and sound design were both unfinished because I know nothing of these magical things.
- If chosen for the festival, the filmmaker gets $500 to finish their short film.
- I didn't get in.
- They hate me.
It was really heart-breaking to not make the festival. Our very dedicated group drove over 300 miles to shoot this through the night in a cold, dark forest and so far we have nothing to show for it. A lot of people worked reallllllly hard on this (and my mother dipped into her retirement fund so I can shoot this). It would be a shame to have the final product suffer just because we couldn't get the final funding to help us cross the finish line.
What We Need & How We'll Use It
- We would love the full $500 that we hoped to get for the festival.
- We would use this money to pay post-production professionals to sex up our short film and make it look as professional as it deserves to look.
- It takes a lot of money and hard work to shoot a film. But the process that makes everything look professional is post-production. This is crunch time,
- We would also use the money to submit it to other (more deserving) festivals, gaining exposure for everyone involved.
The Impact
This isn't just about this short film getting exposure. This is an opportunity for everyone who worked on this film to get noticed. Seen any of Steven Spielberg's short films? Me neither, but I bet you the people who financed his first feature film did. Every single person on this crew deserves to be paid in the future for doing the job they wanna do. This short film can be a stepping stone for us all. We need an amazing product to show people how talented we are.
Other Ways You Can Help
I know a lot of you don't have the money to spare. So please please please help spread the word to people who do. Post links to this page on any social network of your choosing. Also, link peeps to the Facebook page so they can see more photos and whatnot to understand more about this.
Thank y'all so much for your time.......and hopefully your money.
