Want to get your creative juices flowing? Feeling like you want to kick back and relax to some psychedelic effects? Looking to give your podcast, TikTok video or house party that WOW factor? Then the Kino is for you

Imagine you are in the 70s and you are happy to let yourself go and are not afraid to let your imagination flow. OPTI's newest projector is here to take you back in time on a vibrant and mesmerising journey. It's all about love. Love for the past, love for creativity, love for colours and above all, love for your imagination.

Capturing this sentiment and to celebrate our 50th anniversary, OptiKinetics are launching the Kino projector. Taking inspiration from the past and fusing that with modern manufacturing materials and techniques we have created an effects projector for the home with a retro-modern style that we believe makes this a icon from the past for the future.

The Kino is a limited edition retro-styled projector, these packages will be available at these special prices ONLY as part of the Kickstarter project.

The Kino is an affordable effects projector designed to work with Opti's range of retro analogue lighting effects like our iconic liquid wheels - a trippy mix of coloured oils randomly moving and interacting in a lava style projection. Made famous in the 70’s & 80’s by many well-known psychedelic bands of the era. Made using LEDs and sustainable materials like wood, the Kino is also designed for a sustainable future.

If you are inspired by influences from the past be it in fashion, art, design or music then the Kino is for you and we would love to welcome you to our creative family - together inspiring a whole new generation of creative minds.

Pioneers in innovating and creating visual effects since the 70s, an era of explosive creativity in music and art, OPTI worked alongside some of the great artists of that time, creating and inspiring a community around its legendary products.

We aim to inspire a whole new generation of creative minds.

IOS and Android Compatible

The Kino is also IOS & Android compatible, connecting to the Opti app so that you can remotely control the projector's speed, brightness and other features. The projector has been made using sustainable materials like wood.

With this retro & cool projector, we want to share the OptiKinetics vibes from the past adapted to the artistic and creative touch of the present and share it with a new generation of creators.

About OptiKinetics

[OPTI] Kinetics is a leading innovator of specialist lighting projection effects and has invented iconic products such as the liquid ‘lava type’ wheel and the Solar and Gobo range of projectors.

Formed in London, England in 1970 by a group of creative lighting effect engineers.

[OPTI] Kinetics products allow users to create effects that are suitable for multiple corporate, healthcare and entertainment applications.

Pioneers in innovating and creating visual effects since the 70s, an era of explosive creativity in music and art, [OPTI] worked alongside some of the great artists of that time, creating and inspiring a community around its legendary products.

Light projection first became popular in modern theatre and dance in the 1950’s and, shortly afterward, experimenting began by the new underground film makers. Extensive use and popularity of lights and light projection techniques came in the late 1950’s with the growing California “psychedelic” movement. This new culture began to spread quickly toward the East, bringing with it, the “light show”.

In a short time, the concept of the “light show” was changing and its innovators were discovering fascinating new techniques. Nightclubs and rock groups became interested, hoping light would add new appeal to their presentations.

Today, the lighting technologies created in the psychedelic movement surround us in all our daily lives. Imaginative people have made profound progress in the field of lighting, adding excitement to parties, dances, and shows.

This project is promoted by Jellop, the ad tech power behind the best Kickstarters with 3,500+ successful Kickstarter projects with over $1B raised between them.

Risks and challenges

As a seasoned manufacturer Optiketics have over 50 years experience of manufacturing specialist effects projectors in the UK. We have all the pieces needed already in the factory to make all the projectors and wheels needed. The only risk is that these projectors will relax you too much.

Environmental Commitment

Long-lasting design

This is designed with solid steel and laminated wood externally and internally - we are using components that are the same as those used in our long running projectors, some of which are still being used 50 years after manufacture

Reusability and recyclability

We are using mainly recyclable materials

Environmentally friendly factories

Our products are manufactured in North America and the UK, cutting down on the final miles needed to get finished goods to consumers
