About the Director
My name is Chris Kang. I am a Christian, a Korean American, and a college student. I've been involved with church theater and media since high school as writer and director. This summer, I am directing and producing a short documentary film that I will be submitting to Pan Pacific Film Festival.
This project is immensely important and personal, because it's a way for me to express messages to a broader audience about what I see amidst the controversy between evolution and creation, which is a topic that's been stirring inside of me for the past year. And I need your help to accomplish this goal.
A Message for Non-Christians
For non-Christians, I want to first acknowledge your personal background and view. Then, I want to present to you with the Christians' beliefs in the Bible and in creation. Upon what reason do they reject evolution and commit themselves to some religion that seems too fragile? What is their reality behind it? You will realize that these people are your friends and even family. If you are curious about listening to the Christians' uncompromising stories and reasons behind their beliefs (myself included here), I think you will care about this project.
A Message for Christians
For Christians, I want to challenge you with God's new commandment of love. Many Christians (including myself) are so ready to denounce people who believe in evolution. But shouldn't we exercise every effort to present to them with love and the word of God? Many times we go to foreign lands to witness to people about Jesus, who embodies Truth, Love, and the Word altogether. But we don't realize that there are already these people around us who really deserve to know Him. If you care about reaching out to other people with the Word of God, I think you will care about this project.
Why This Film is Special
What makes this documentary different from other ones is that we take a personal look at college students who face internal conflicts when they are exposed to both evolution and creation. What kind of efforts do they take? What cultural backgrounds do they have? If possible, what would change them? Our goal is not to end up with a ceaseless debate with no answer. Instead, we look at personal reasons why a person believes a certain way. The film may include some scientific materials, but the main focus is to look at it culturally, as we track a group of students as they learn more about this topic.
