Egyik napról a másikra Soma szülei úgy döntenek, vidékre költözik a család. A 9 éves fiú nem tudja mi van a költözés hátterében. Érzi, hogy valami nincs rendben. Valamit nem árulnak el neki szülei. Somát nem hagyja nyugodni a titok. Fantázia és valóság észrevétlenül csúsznak egymásba. Soma olyan játékba kezd amiből már nincs visszaút.

Suddenly Soma's parents decide to move to the countryside. The young boy fails to find the reason of unexpected moving. However, he can sense that not everything is fine and that his parents are keeping a secret from him. To reveal this secret becomes one of Soma's main goals. Almost imperceptibly fantasy and reality become indistinguishable. Soma begins a game that he will never be able to stop playing.

Kik vagyunk? - Who we are?
Szalai Márk és jómagam (Kőrösi Máté) körülbelül 4 éve találkoztunk egy lerobbant keleti pályaudvari albérletben. Nem történt nagy dolog csak elkezdtünk közösen gondolkodni. Aztán mivel ez a része jól működött gondoltuk mi lenne ha közösen filmeznénk. Mivel nekem rendezői neki pedig operatőri ambíciói voltak, még jó ötletnek is tűnt az egész. Belekezdtünk hát és első közös munkánkkal – a Dömdödöm című kisfilmmel – meg is nyertük az Ottlik 101 kisfilm pályázatot. A következő években még 3 kisfilmet és jó pár etűdöt készítettünk együtt. Kísérleteztünk, kerestük egymás hangját. Legutóbbi SZuper című munkánk a Magyar Filmhéten és a Friss Húson kívül a berlini Sputnik Kino Berlinale special vetítésére is eljutott.

Mark Szalai and I (Mate Korosi) met four years ago in a ruined down apartment near the Budapest Keleti Train Station. Here we started to share our ideas with each other. Since, this worked out well we started to wonder about making films together. It seemed a perfect match because Mark had ambitions in cinematography, while I had been more driven in achieving goals in directing. The fruit of our first collaboration (the short film titled Dömdödöm), won the prize in the Géza Ottlik 101 Short Film Competition. In the following three years we made three more short films and few etudes. Our latest work, the SZuper was shown not only at the Hungarian Film Week, Friss Hús International Short Film Festival, but also at the Sputnik Kino in Berlin at a special screening of the Berlinale.

A Projekt - More about the project
Legújabb munkánk az Otthon munkacímet viseli. Filmünk azt a pillanatot ragadja meg egy gyerek életében, amikor először tűnik el a szülők nyújtotta biztonságos burok. Az a viszonyrendszer és az a valóság, ami egészen idáig biztos alapokon nyugodott, egyik pillanatról a másikra megkérdőjeleződik. Eltűnik a feltétlen bizalom. Főhősünk Soma, egy 9 éves érzékeny gyerek, aki egy költözködés hatására életében először úgy érzi, magára maradt. Neki kell eldöntenie, hogy ki ő, mit cselekszik és hogy egyáltalán mi a valóság. A Soma szorongásaival párhuzamosan kibomló eseményeket a néha korlátolt, máskor pedig határtalan gyermeki tekinteten keresztül ismerheti majd meg a néző. Az új ház labirintusszerű terei megmozgatják a fiú fantáziáját. Képzelet és valóság észrevétlenül csúszik egymásba.

Our latest work is titled Home. The film captures the moment in a child’s life when they lose the sensation of security given by their parents for the first time. The system of relation and the reality taught to the child up to this point suddenly becomes challengable. The unconditional trust disappears. Soma, the main hero is a nine-year-old, sensitive boy who is feeling lonely due to having moved places for the first time in his life. The plot unfolds through the eyes of the hero, therefore the spectator becomes familiar with his anxieties and the story line through the sometimes limited and other times boundless childish mind of a young child. The labyrinth like spaces within the new house stretch the boy’s mind to the point where reality and fantasy become indistinguishable.

Helyszín - Location
Legutóbbi filmjeink – és Márk teljes munkásságának – legfőbb komponense egy Tolna megyei kisváros: Nagymányok és környéke. Márkot kisiskolás korától kezdve megihlette közvetlen környezete, de ahelyett, hogy a szokványos magyar vidéket látta volna benne, a természetben rejtőző fantasztikum mozgatta inkább meg képzeletét. Ebbe a világba avatott be engem is az utóbbi években. Mivel a hagyományos operatőr-rendező viszonyrendszerrel ellentétben egyenrangú alkotóként és egyben társíróként veszünk részt filmjeinkben, így a csendes kisváros tökéletes helynek bizonyult a folyamatos közös forgatókönyv fejlesztéshez. Az Otthon helyszínéül is egy Mányok környéki falu, Váralja fog szolgálni.

All works of Mark, and our latest cooperation were shot in a place very dear to us: in a small town in Hungary called Nagymànyok. Since he was a young boy, Mark has been inspired by his immediate surroundings. Nevertheless, when looking at the Hungarian countryside, instead of seeing the ordinary landscape, he was intrigued by the apparent supernatural powers that nature seems to own. In the past few years he introduced me to his magical world. The conventional relation between director and cameraman was broken up, because we worked as equal partners in our films. For the purpose of this work, the little and quite town was the perfect place for the perpetual development of the script. The new project Home will be also shot in the same region.

Szereplők - Cast
A főszereplő Kőrösi Soma, második legfiatalabb öcsém. Mivel már dolgoztunk egyszer közösen, nem is volt kérdés számomra, hogy ez az ő szerepe. Különleges gyerek. Miközben fizikailag kortársainál fejletlenebb, tekintetében egy gyermekien naiv, de érett felnőtt köszön vissza. Az apa és anya szerepére, Soma valós szüleit választottuk, akik nem mellesleg profi színészek. A hármuk között vibráló természetes összhang meghatározó eleme lesz a filmnek.

The protagonist is my little brother Soma Korosi. Since we have already worked together it was not even a question that this time as well he will get the role. He is a very special child: while physically he is underdeveloped in confront of the children of his age, in his eyes we can see the naivety of a child and a matureness of an adult. For the role of Soma’s mother and father we have chosen Soma’s real parents who are professional actors. The natural, symbiotic and harmonious relationship among them will be a crucial element of the movie.

Zene - Soundtarck
Már előző filmünk a SZuper filmzenéjét is a szemtelenül eredeti és tehetséges iamyank szerezte. A helyzet hasonló volt mint Márkkal, elkezdtünk közösen gondolkozni és pár óra múlva feleszméltünk. Az Otthon esetében az a szerencsés helyzet állt elő, hogy Yank nemrég megjelent első albuma, néhol a legjobb filmzenék gondolatiságát követi, továbbá hangulataiban, színárnyalataiban összesimul a filmünk atmoszférájával. Így a kisfilmben a HIRAETH című album fog felcsendülni.

The music of our previous movie SZuper, was also composed by the exceptionally talented composer iamyank. The situation was the same as with Mark: we started to put our ideas together and in a few hours we realised the time have just passed.
In the case of Home, yank’s new album HIRAETH served as soundtrack that underlined the general moods, ideas and atmospheres of the movie.
