Hi! We are
428collective, a group of 11 artists based in Sonoma County, California. Together we produce art projects, events, and exhibits to celebrate the innovative, boundary-pushing art that is made in our area.
THE PROJECT![]()
OUT HERE is our most ambitious project to date. Launching with a party and art exhibit on November 14th, we’re creating a dynamic series of events and expanding the idea of how art relates to place. We’ll have
art exhibits, dinners, radio programs, performances, lectures, drive-in movie screenings and more.
Culminating in the Spring of 2016, OUT HERE presents
a weekend tour of commissioned art sites in Sonoma County. Commissioned artists will make one-day long interactive art projects. Collaborative in nature, we’ll encourage the artists to make local people and communities each project’s core focus.
Your contribution to this online campaign will support the creation of the OUT HERE website, artist fees, printing costs and school bus rentals for our annual tour. Stretch our goal and you’ll support even more ambitious artist projects and help purchase an OUT HERE truck headquarters and exhibition space !
We’ve teamed up with Independent Arts and Media as our fiscal sponsor so your
donations are tax deductible.
Through our art events, OUT HERE inspires new ways for us to think and learn about place, uncover what goes unnoticed, and experience our surroundings with new perspective. We are so excited to launch this project, and we
thank you or your support!

WHAT FUNDS WILL COVER
Funds from this online campaign will support the creation of the OUT HERE website, printing costs for publications and maps, publicity, school bus rentals for our annual tour, and artist fees for commissioned art projects. We are looking for a minimum of $20,000 to get the project going, with a final goal of $50,000 (along with extra help from grants and other fundraisers). The more money we raise, the better the overall project will be!
We want to give artists the chance to push themselves and have the funds to realize their most ambitious projects. With additional support, we will also be able to purchase a truck for our roving OUT HERE headquarters and exhibition space.
We have teamed up with Independent Arts and Media as our fiscal sponsor, so this means that
all donations will be tax deductible!
PERKS
Check out our
fun list of perks on the right!
Go to the Gallery page above to see images and descriptions of the art available to you in exchange for your donation. (note that some perks are not tax deductible) There is something for just about every donation level. If you are unable to donate money but would still like to be involved, contact us and we will let you know about chances to volunteer at our events!
OUR TRACK RECORD
![]()
Since our formation in 2012, we have produced wonderfully successful art events for our community. These events include a series of
free art classes for kids and adults, a culture
lecture series,
literary nights, a year-long program of
art installations in a local gallery, a wildly successful annual
art CSA subscription project,
community dinners to discuss the role on innovation and creativity in our area,
drive-in movie nights featuring local filmmakers,
design shows, and more!
The members of our “dream team” collective have a wide range of skills and backgrounds that have allowed each event to run smoothly and professionally. When a few bumps come our way in the planning process we bring together our team and outside help when necessary to keep things moving forward.

We want:
-art that actively involves and is relevant to the culture, place, and community where it is created.
-projects by creative visionaries who reveal new ways to think about art and place.
-a platform for artists to take risks, experiment, and work outside big cities and white walls
-an inspiring and challenging dialogue about creative practices and rural culture
THANK YOU FOR SUPPORTING INNOVATIVE ART IN SONOMA COUNTY!
