Short Summary

In March 2003 I was run over by a car and paralysed from the chest down. Noth wanting to give up, I set myself the goal of learning to ride a motorcycle again and competing against able-bodied racers.  In June 2012 I finally reached my goal and made history by becoming the first paraplegic in the world to have gained a full ACU Race Licence to compete in an able-bodied motorcycle race.  I have self funded for the past two seasons, but that has meant only competing in four out of ten rounds.  even so I have been placed 10th out of 37 competitors.

What We Need & What You Get

Talan Racing needs funds for:
- Entry fee for the Race Weekend and Testing Days.
- Tyres for the Races (three sets needed per weekend).
- Travel costs and accommodation costs.
- Maintenance costs of the Race Bike.
- Specialist equipment development to improve performance.
The racing allows me to be free from my disability, to feel independent and the have choice returned to me.

The Impact

The racing helps to show others what can be achieved, and that life doesn't stop because you have a life changing injury or disability.  It inspires others to reach their own goals, whether they are able-bodied or disabled.  Many have said how motivating it is to see me out on track, proving that you can do anything if you set your mind to it.  The racing also helps promote disabled motorcycling, especially the worlds only teaching school for disabled motorcyclists...The Bike Experience.

Other Ways You Can Help

If you can't help with funds, then volunteers for the race weekends, spreading the word about what is possible, any kit that can help, introducing me to someone that might be in a position to help, telling other disabled motorcyclists that they CAN.
