The theatre was founded by Artistic Director Bradley Moore in 2008. Music City Theatre Company is a professional theatre company with a mission to provide the Nashville community with honest, brilliant theatre while presenting thought-provoking, risk-taking, socially relevant work with a strong vision.
Music City Theatre Company’s Artistic Director, Bradley Moore, is a graduate of Winthrop University in South Carolina where he majored in Theatre Performance and was honored with the Blair E. Beasley Directing Scholarship. Working on every level of theatre from community to professional, he has been a part of over 100 productions.
MCTC's debut production, Songs We'll Never Sing, was presented in October of 2008 at The Lipstick Lounge in East Nashville. It featured three men singing Broadway musical numbers traditionally performed by women. The show was such a HUGE success that it inspired 2009's production, SONGS WE'LL NEVER SING: BOTH SIDES OF THE STORY which maintained the same reverse-gender concept, but added three women into the mix.
This past winter, MCTC returned to The Lipstick Lounge & presented SONGS OF A STRONG WOMAN: A MUSICAL REVUE IN ONE ACT. This production highlighted some of the most beloved Broadway songs ever performed by women while exploring the different elements of strength women deal with on a daily basis.
After three original musicals, RENT marks the first well-known, Broadway produced production MCTC will present. It is a milestone for MCTC.
One day, when I win the lottery, I will stop having to ask for funding for the arts & my theatre. Until then, I have to rely on the kindness & willingness of friends, family, & supporters. The arts are a tough thing. Very little funding is available. If you have a voice & want it to be heard, it does take funds to make that happen.
It has been a dream of mine to direct RENT since I first heard the cast recording 16 years ago. The cast is excited. I am excited. Help us get there! Trust me, when you see the talented cast I have been blessed with, you will be AMAZED!!
Believe it or not, the money raised in this campaign will ONLY go to pay the performance rights! YEP. IT IS EXPENSIVE. This does not cover anything else such as costumes, props, cast, band, etc. So your help is desperately needed!
RENT will be presented in Nashville in January 2012.
More details will be available on Music City Theatre Company's Facebook page as the production approaches.
