We've had one vision from day one: Become the premier
user platform for professional collaboration and personal talent growth through
mentorship by the use of social capital.
Social capital "refers to the collective value of all 'social networks' and the inclinations that arise from these networks to do things for each other."
-Robert Putnam: Professor at Harvard University

We truly believe people want to
help others succeed, but the routine process of mentoring and the locating of mentors has been unchanged for years. It's time to re-imagine it and make it
meaningful, fun, simple, vast, real-time and transparent. Join us in defining
the future of professional Mentoring and taking it across our country and then
around the world.
Picture this: thousands of
people are in your community, many have traveled the same road you wish to
embark upon. But just how do you know where to start? What tools are
beneficial? What should be avoided?
What if you could bring
together those who went before to help with those who have just ventured?
Or perhaps just learn from others with simply different experiences.
Pear’d is in the business of cultivating human potential, and we believe mentorship is the best way to accomplish that. We aim to facilitate in the trade of “social capital” by providing a way for users to grow a professional network. They can draw upon it to benefit themselves and others in their communities.
Whether you are an aspiring professional or tenured executive you can always profit from a bonded community of support. By bridging users to a network of mentors & pears based on ascertained traits, goals and interests; a professional web of support is created.

If social bonding is the most powerful predictor of life satisfaction then professional bonding is the most powerful predictor of career satisfaction.

It’s simple –
Young professionals can search for Mentors / Leaders by career
paths, interests, goals, etc… to help better them on their professional journey
and streamline the time spent ‘finding themselves’ alone.
Experienced professionals can look upstream to the next
generation of talent entering the market. They can find an individual with a
similar story or journey and guide them to greatness while imparting the
lessons of the setbacks they have previously faced.
The key
to a successful mentorship is that it must be objective-driven. We have applied
a multitude of activities for which the user network can engage:

WHO ELSE BENEFITS?

A professional relationship is always beneficial to any career.
Users can be in contact not only with mentors but their circle of friends and contacts of influence,
depending on the relationship wanted. For preexisting relationships this is a
complete way to stay in the know. These relationships fostered by the tools of
the site aim to provide synergy and growth for one’s career, goals, and dreams
in whole. The more support one receives the better they are braced to overcome
an obstacle.
We want
everyone – neighborhoods, communities, the world – to give back and help others
succeed.
We will need a
full-time team to manage the technology and cities all across the
nation. By helping reach our fundraising goal, we’ll be able to bring
people together everywhere to make a difference, including to your town, by
finishing development of the PEAR’d
platform for a nationwide launch.

We've gotten great feedback from people in Georgia, North Carolina, Florida, New York and California on creating a real-world beta platform to bring professional mentoring to the social networking domain. During this time,we've dreamed up and formed the next
step in our process of helping others reach their potential. This
includes a new social site that we can't wait to share with the world! It's
innovative with new tools for communicating, collaborating, and pear-ing. New
technology, however, means money.
$45,000 will be used to complete
the new site development and marketing goals. Not only is it going to be a
great tool, it is crucial for us to be able to launch and ensure that every one
of our users will have the flawless functionality we promise.
Truly believing that the help
of others is what makes the impossible, possible serves as the foundation of
our site. Using the same principles, we’ve turned to you, the same people we
aim to help succeed, for bringing our platform to life.

WHAT OUR TEAM BELIEVES
Daniel is the founder of the vision and mission of PEAR'd. He was inspired after reading a book, and inquired where people can find mentors. In seeking the solution, he began to design the early stages of the site. After getting the beta up and running, he shared the concept with others and received a multitude of feedback. In order to really capture the essence of mentorship, Daniel felt the need to add a few features to the beta and move the beta to a live site ready for substantial user collaboration via a mentorship relationship.
-----------------------------
Jerica thrives on solving challenging interface design & user experience design problems. When it comes to crafting something intuitive, but unique Jerica excels. When Daniel approached her with the concept of PEAR'd, the opportunity was one that could not be passed. She saw several challenegs that needed to be tended to:
- Defining mentorship for users
- Creating a user experience that was meaningful
- Creating a site that increased the value of one's career, education, and life
--------------------
Brad was initially intrigued by the idea because he had never heard of anything like it before. Through his professional and work experiences, he's seen the benefit of teamwork within an organization.
Before PEAR'd, he spent 9 years advancing the ranks
within Target becoming the regions highest ranked ETL of Logistics, handling
the operations for multiple locations.
With PEAR'd, he believes there's an opportunity for that level of mentorship and teamwork to be enhanced, and not only within business organizations, but for any organization that is out there. In an age when we are relying more on global partnerships and teamwork to accomplish goals that are set forth, having a platform like PEAR'd that's out there, will do nothing but benefit anyone out there who uses the site.
---------------
When Kristine first heard of the idea of PEAR'd, it really appealed to her. As a recent graduate, she didn't know where to go- but the idea of mentors, or having someone she could approach and just bounce ideas off of, sounded like something she could definitely benefit from.

Please enjoy the Wordles of our mission statement
