Building a Bridge
I'm Dawn Finnie, co-founder of Little Thistle Brewing Company along with my husband, Steve. We started Little Thistle almost 5 years ago, investing in the community we love here in Rochester, Minnesota. Our dream was to create a gathering place where people could relax with friends and family and enjoy their time together over a pint of our freshly brewed beer. Rochester has a beautiful, extensive trail system, and one of the appeals of our location is the Douglas Trail bordering our property. When we purchased our Little Thistle, our hope was that pedestrians, bikers, and families would be able to access Little Thistle during their daily adventures. We've been patiently working with the City of Rochester for five years to plan a bridge for easier access to Little Thistle and our neighborhood. The City has been generous enough to add a bridge to their existing erosion mitigation plan along the trail. After 5 long years, it's here! The Little Thistle Pedestrian/Bike bridge is here! In order to get the bridge added to the plan, Little Thistle agreed to pay for the materials, which amounts to $10,000. We started this Indiegogo to raise some (or all) of that funding.
What We Need & What You Get
- We're raising $10,000 for the financing of the bridge. The $10,000 covers the materials needed to add the bridge to the existing trail system.
- Why Indiegogo? We want to be able to share this accomplishment with everyone who's been rooting for us and the bridge. Donate $50 and you'll get a limited-edition t-shirt and a pint!
- All funds will be paid to The City of Rochester to cover the cost of the bridge materials.
The Impact
The addition of this bridge benefits not only Little Thistle Brewing, but also nearby businesses including American Waterworks, Ability Building Communities, and the adjacent communities:
- Promoting alternative transportation options for employees of local businesses with easier access for biking and walking to work.
- Easier access for community seeking access to our businesses.
- Promoting biking, walking, running, and family activity.
Sincere thank you for contributing or just for all the good vibes you've been putting out to make this happen :)
