Who We Are:
Members of the Baltimore Student Harm Reduction Coalition (BSHRC) are a diverse network of students, health professionals, and community members who are committed to practicing and spreading harm reduction principles.
To expand our work, we need $5000 to fund our exciting projects. Your contributions will support our diverse roles, from providing overdose prevention kits to engaging in state-level advocacy.
Harm Reduction is a way of thinking about drug use, sex work, and other conditions that may lead to harmful health consequences that accepts those things as fact and works with people to reduce their harm and celebrate their victories towards self defined goals.
Since 2011, we have provided education, advocacy and service in the Baltimore area and beyond. Our vision is a world where harm reduction is a fundamental principle in improving health.
BSHRC is a program of local 501(c)3 fiscal sponsorship agency Fusion Partnerships, Inc.
What We Need & What You Get
Our goal is to raise $5000 to sustain our initiatives this year. Here is how your donations help what we do:
All funds raised will go support our projects, even if we do not reach our funding goal.
The Impact
Baltimore, like much of the United States, is experiencing an opioid overdose epidemic. Last year, almost two people a day died of an overdose in Baltimore.
To help people save the lives of their loved ones, we have given out over 260 overdose rescue kits at 15 trainings throughout Central Maryland, and want to get even more into the hands of our community members.
Our city has many world class health institutions, and we are one of the only groups supporting Baltimore's most marginalized citizens in achieving their self-identified health goals. We are also provided harm reduction-related training to students and staff at universities and organizations throughout the area to increase the level of care for all patients.
