I’m the founding and senior
pastor of Eastpoint Church in Spokane Valley, WA. I also love to write, and I’m
the author of three published books. (Click here to see my books.)
Madeleine L’Engle once said,
“There is
nothing so secular that it cannot be sacred, and that is one of the deepest
messages of the Incarnation.” I believe this to be true, and it’s why I want to
publish a pumpkin story to add a “sacred voice” to the not-so-sacred holiday of
Halloween.
This fun and
illustrated kids' book will introduce children to a grumpy pumpkin named Pete.
Pete leaves his home, ends up in a dark and scary place, but then he is found
by kind Farmer Dale. It’s a story of restoration and forgiveness.
As you can
imagine, creating and publishing a full-sized (8.5 x 11), full-color children’s
book is not cheap. Here’s a breakdown of the total project cost of $2,500:
·
$ 1,000 to pay the artist for ten color illustrations
·
$ 750 for media support and advertising
·
$ 500 for an initial run of books for distribution to potential
reviewers/endorsers
·
$ 250 for editing
I know this book will impact the lives of many
children! It’s time to put something fun, amazing and godly in the hands of
parents for Halloween.
So here’s how you can help:
· Give a tax-deductible gift of as little as $15, and I'll send you a digital version (in a pdf format) of my book: Perfectly Imperfect ~ A Devotional for Grace-Filled Living!
· For a gift of at least $35, you will receive a free and signed copy of Pete the Prodigal Pumpkin when it releases.
· For a gift of at least $75, you will receive a signed copy of Pete the Prodigal Pumpkin plus a free
and signed copy of one of Kurt’s three other books (your choice)!
If just 70 people give at
least $35 we will easily reach our publication goal. By the way, any funds received
in excess of our goal will remain in the Essential Life Press (ELP) accounts
for future projects.
This is a Christian
book, published by Eastpoint’s publishing ministry (ELP), and a project
consistent with our mission to advance the Gospel. Therefore, all gifts are
fully tax-deductible (less the actual cost of whatever you receive in exchange
for your gift).
