Phase Magazine
Phase is a new London based magazine highlighting the work and talent of young emerging artists and writers. We will explore and connect arts, culture, music, photography, politics, poetry and cinema. Our platform intends to give visibility to up-and-coming, underground talents.
Phase reimagines the way we interact with culture. We believe that today, young creatives should not restrict themselves to one area of interest. Therefore, Phase enables these creatives to explore different possibilities, express their broad range of passions and benefit emerging artists.
The magazine will reflect London culture of musicians coexisting alongside writers. We will engage with the tradition of underground zine culture that challenges convention. Phase will be London’s monthly encounter with those composing this counterculture.
Phase is UK based but will create an ecosystem benefitting and connecting our readership to young artists and writers from around the world.
Why?
We aim to create a link between a nostalgic idealisation of the past and an eagerness for reinventing contemporary culture.
We believe it is time to confront our generation's potential by resisting the idea that everything has already been made.
Phase will be accessible but intellectually engaging, politically opinionated and open to discourse.
Phase blends Britain's musical identity with the French emphasis on culture, art, and cinema.
As Phase grows, we hope to use the magazine as a tool to highlight the work of writers and artists who share our vision, and eventually tackling the issues we care most about, including the refugee crisis, environmental destruction, racism, homelessness, and social justice.
Who's behind it?
Our team is made up of young creatives and writers. We understand our generation must shape the artistic landscape of the future.

We need your help
We've already collected the articles and pieces from our various contributors, but we need financial backing to cover printing costs.
Because we are young and are not yet established, we need the support of the creative community to get started.
The importance of print journalism
We believe it is imperative to see this project in a physical form. While the internet provides a democratic space for creators, we are firmly committed to the concept of physicality.
We want our printed magazine to be a physical experience that will immerse the reader sensorially.
Phase is directed towards London's youth, and will be affordable and accessible.
We want Phase to play an important part in the resurrection of print journalism, and believe the physical aspect to play a crucial part to engage for the reader, whether in text or photography.
Our commitment to ecology and creative independence
We want to print on recycled paper and distribute in a way that is environmentally friendly. However, this comes at a cost. We won't seek funding from corporate interests who might limit our ability to realise this commitment.
To avoid sacrificing the integrity of our content, and in order to write and create independently, we must also raise funds independently. That is why we have taken the decision not to include any advertising or product placement in our magazine.
This is why we have come to Indiegogo. We need your support to create without restrictions imposed by mainstream investors.
We understand the power of crowdfunding. Any contributors will help to put our ideas into action in a way that is ethical, sustainable and corresponds to our values and identity.
