Overview
Almost every person bounded with CG knows what photogrammetry is, but if it goes to creating a model more and more problems occur, and I know it from this difficult side. Because of that I'm offering You My knowledge about photogrammetry. After My course You will handle almost every project. For Me most important here is that You will learn, and that this knowledge will help You grow better in Your chosen field. After this campaign tutorial will be available for 100$.

My name is Kamil and I'm Freelance 3D Generalist, I'm from Poland and live in Gliwice. I was working for many companies over the World. My adventure with Computer Graphics, especially 3D was started about 10 years ago.

I learn all the things by myself from books, and mostly from tutorials. I'm planning to run a site with CG tutorials and that is why I'm starting an Indiegogo project.

Recently I'm on photogrammetry topic. I know it very well, from the beginning to the end. By end I mean realistic 3D rendering with PBR materials, which can be used in any type of projects. Games, animations, advertise, architecture, 3D printing and I believe many more.

My tutorial series will contain almost every step of creating a model in photogrammetry technique.
We will start with camera settings, building a small lighting studio, and off course shooting principles.
Don't worry if You haven't photo camera, My tutorial will also contain a chapter for using camera in Your Smartphone.

We will work on few projects, from simpler ones to more difficult to learn possibly most everything regarding the topic.

I hope You will help Me to achieve this goal, so I can work further and teach people, which I like the most.

Funding will allow Me creating this tutorial series. Rest of it for creating a site with CG tutorials. But not as it is on many sites. I like to make a service where We will have whole projects. Simple projects, difficult, where We will use few software to creating it.

Everyone who will fund My project. Will get whole tutorial series with project files.

What the tutorial chapters will contain:

BEFORE WE BEGIN:

1. What photogrammetry is?

  • A little intro to the topic

2. What We need to shot photos?

  • Camera vs Smartphone in the term of quality

3. Do I need professional lighting equipment?

  • How to build cheap, yet good lighting studio.

4. Shooting photos

  • Best weather conditions
  • Shooting principles
  • Camera settings

GENERATING MODELS:

1. Processing our photos for best results

  • Processing RAW data in Photoshop Camera RAW
  • Color correcting photos
  • Saving correction presets
  • Saving TIFF files
  • Making masks for later use in Agisoft Photoscan (studio lighting technique)

2. Agisoft Photoscan

  • Photoscan basics
  • Loading photos
  • Generating masks
  • Refining masks
  • Sparse point cloud data
  • Dense point cloud data
  • Generating high poly mesh
  • Merging chunks (optional, depend on object and shooting)
  • Exporting high poly model

3. Zbrush

  • Refining highpoly model
  • Dynamesh
  • Re-project detail
  • Export to OBJ

4. Back to Photoscan

  • Importing refined in Zbrush model
  • Decimate mesh to lowest possible
  • Export decimated mesh to OBJ

5. Blender

  • Importing decimated mesh into Blender
  • Retopology/remodeling (not always needed)
  • Proper UV's
  • Export to OBJ

6. Back to Photoscan (yes again ;) )

  • Import proper mesh with good topology and UV's
  • Generate texture
  • Export model and texture (low poly version)

7.Blender for second time

  • Importing model
  • Setting up right scale and orientation for both low, and highpoly model from Photoscan (Yes We still need that HP from Photoscan for fine detail)
  • Again export to OBJ

8. Substance Painter

  • Setting up the project
  • Texturing for Blender/Cycles.
  • Baking detail from HP to LP
  • Painting all desired textures for the object
  • Export maps to use in Blender/Cycles (PBR)

9. Blender – Shading, lighting, rendering

  • Importing data to nodes system
  • Using new “Principled” shader for the project
  • Lighting with HDR and mesh lamps
  • Denoise settings
  • Final rendering

10. Export for 3D printing

Extra content:

  • Abandoned train
  • Relighting textures in Unity. (if You are shooting outside and there is no way of getting flat lighting from the sky)

Content Summary:

All of the above will be used for 5 type of models. For studio lighting bunny figure and gas cylinder, For Outdoor lighting pavement, wall and abandoned train (extra content). Apart from all of that You will learn how to handle that type of projects. Project folders, naming etc.

As You can see, this isn't only something about something, but really complete series and rich in knowledge.
I encourage You to fund this project, it is really worthy. That knowledge can be applied everywhere.
Game industry, animation industry, monuments reconstruction, architecture, creating assets. etc.

How long it will take to finish?

Everyone who contribute will have instant updates. Whole tutorial will be ready at the latest on first days of October.

What if funding fails?

Because I'm on flexible goal funding. If funding will fail. Everyone who contribute will get the tutorial anyway. But the completion time of it may be longer.

But let's go tell Your friends, spread the message. This will be the best tutorial on the topic.

Last words

Tutorial will be also available after completion, but for much more, around 100$, with funding You have a chance to get it really cheap. I really hope You can help Me to meet my little dream of having tutorial service with creative content.
