Our idea
My name is Yuri and I'm here to tell you about a dream that I have had for a very long time.
We live in a world today where we are constantly taking photos, accumulating terabytes of images every day, yet most of those pics are of little or no value. At the same time, among the thousands of photos taken for social networks showing our friends, the food we like, not to mention selfies, there are some really interesting shots of beautiful places, urban scenes and foreign sights, natural monuments and architectural wonders. Each family owns and keeps photo albums which tell their own stories. Just imagine how many photos taken in different parts of the world are now gathering dust on shelves or in closets. Worse still, over time they can be lost, thrown away, burned or simply deteriorate. Through our indifference we are closing our window on the past and losing the link between generations.
And now I would like to show you the future look of the website
Imagine that you want to take a look at your hometown street from your childhood. To do this, you will open our website http://picstorium.com, find your city and locate your own street on the map. Using the timescale, you will set the exact time that interests you. The map enables you to find the relevant images for that location, uploaded by other users. In short, you will be able to look into the world of memories and gain a fresh perspective on life in the past. You will also be able to rate any photo, thereby influencing the uploader's overall rating, just by clicking on their name. There will also be a system of user statistics depending on the rating. Each status will be displayed in the form of an original icon next to the user name.
Users with a rating above 1000 points will be able to have access to the additional features of the website http://picstorium.com, for example, tools for processing and improving photos, VIP stickers, etc. The project backerswill receive accounts with all the privileges and with special statuses .
There will also be a "Hall of Fame" section, where photos with names of sponsors as well as users who have reached high ratings will be displayed.
Not only will you be able to evaluate each photo, you can also leave a comment in the comment section. Here you will also see feedback from other users on this photo. By clicking on the name of any comment's author, you will be able to communicate with him or her personally. And by clicking on the name of the person who uploaded the photo, you can start a conversation with them as well.
Users will be able to see the following information about each other: name, country of residence, age (optional). Under each comment the date of its creation will also be shown. Each message will also have a "translate" button to facilitate communication between people from all around the world.
Project budget
In order to improve the likelihood of launching the project, our team decided to calculate the minimum budget required to create and run the platform. If we are able to collect about 2400$, we will be able to create a full-fledged site. If we are able to secure additional funding, we are also planning to create apps for Android and iOS. Within these budget parameters, however, it will be difficult for us to promote the website http://picstorium.com and pursue its further development.
If we manage to raise more funds, we will launch an active advertising campaign to promote the site. Within the first couple of months, millions of people will learn about our project. This will make it possible to fill the virtual planet of the site with pictures from different epochs and countries in a short period of time. Our most important goal is to make sure that anyone who sees an interesting photo immediately feels motivated to save it on http://picstorium.com for future generations.
The platform will accumulate digital and scanned photos. In the very near future special tools will also be added for restoring, retouching and improving photos.
All photos uploaded by users will be subject to content moderation in order to ensure that they correspond to the website’s requirements.
Join the project and come together with people from all around the world. Share your old pictures with others. Leave your own footprint in the photographic legacy of humanity!
A website of this type will surely appear sooner or later.
So let US be its founders!
