The Convolution of Pip & Twig at the Edinburgh Festival Fringe 2016
Dear Friends and Supporters,
We are thrilled (and not a little nervous) to announce that we are taking The Convolution of Pip and Twig out into the wide world at The Edinburgh Festival Fringe! It’s a BIG step, but now feels to us like the right moment, as artists, as producers, and as members of PEP to reach a little further out. Well, let’s be honest. We’re reaching a lot further out -- all the way across the pond! But we’ve worked hard and long to make this show, and we couldn’t be more proud of it.More information about the making of The Convolution of Pip and Twig and full show credits at www.pipandtwig.com Edinburgh, here we come! This is where you come in. We’ve already received the support of some generous donors, (Thank you!) but we need your help to get us across the fundraising finish line! We still need to raise $10,000 to reach our goal of funding this project. Will you consider helping us? We have a fantastic team of pros working on making Pip and Twig, and PEP, and Charlottesville look good on an international stage. Martha Mendenhall (of PEP) is our super smart director, Zap Mcconnell (Artist, Dancer, designer, director and die hard getter of things done) will be our technical director and is redesigning our set for international travel. Opal Lechmanski (long time PEP collaborator, sword swallower, fire eater) is running and evolving our sound design. Jim Waive (songwriter, singer, guitar player) will be recomposing his original music for us to meet the changes we are making to the show. Hamner Theater is our Fiscal umbrella. (Thank you Boomie Pedersen!) Matt Joslyn who has years of experience working at and attending the Edinburgh Festival Fringe is co-producing. We are also thankful for Matt Joslyn’s enthusiastic nudge to take this leap. It was his insistence that the show is a “Fringe Show,” that got us moving in this direction. We appreciate your consideration! We hope you can help us to make this project a success. Anything you can give will be greatly appreciated, is TAX DEDUCTIBLE and will be put to good use making the best, most successful show our team can make. The Festival Fringe in Edinburgh is a special theater event, and we are looking forward to how the experience will help us grow our work and widen PEP’s exposure.
We look forward to telling you more about our plans, and the exciting theatrical experience that is the Edinburgh Fringe. We thank you for being friends of PEP, for all your support in the past, and for your support now.
All the best, Kara McLane Burke and Siân Richards (AKA Pip and Twig) Co-creators and Co-producers PEP (Performers Exchange Project)
From Co Producer Matt Joslyn:
I am thrilled to be working with Siân and Kara on their first international theatrical venture together. Live Arts, a theater where I serve as Executive Director, was honored to host the world premiere of “The Convolution of Pip & Twig” last year, and I was so enthusiastic about the work I encouraged them to take it to Edinburgh.
There’s nothing like the Fringe in the world. The entirely open access festival was host to 3,314 productions in 2015, with 50,459 performances by 27,132 artists from 62 countries across 313 venues. The numbers are so large it’s really impossible to imagine. You have to experience it to believe it.
That’s where you come in.
We’re taking “Pip & Twig” to the Fringe, and we need your help to get there.
Our venue is secure, our team is assembled, and the plans are laid. We’re excited and scared. And from September 2015 to today we've raised over 75% of our goal (a big shout out to our angel donors!).
Today, for our final push, we need you to reach our goal. Every bit helps - even $10 will help us print more flyers, buy more buttons, and take one more step toward Scotland.
Thank you, friends!
Matt Joslyn
