Short Summary
I've been a registered dental hygienist, both in the state of Hawaii and California, for the past twenty-five years. During this time patients have asked me for an instrument they can use at home in addition to brushing and flossing to prevent gum disease in between dental office cleanings. The product I've created will be safe for in-home use, made of medical grade plastic, and can be used daily around the gum tissue. It will also be safe for dental implants and for orthodontic patients around brackets.
What We Need & What You Get
The funds pledged will go toward the making and manufacturing of this product. We will start with the mold, cost of $30,000, and move on to marketing and distribution. As an incentive we would like to offer you an opportunity to try this product. We are anticipating reaching our goal of $100,000. If the full amount is not realized, funds received will be utilized for the initial mold manufacturing.
The Impact
Use of this product will contribute to the health and maintenance of oral care. Daily use to remove plaque and debris from our mouths will reduce build-up between professional dental cleanings which can make office visits more comfortable and less time consuming.
We believe we are the right combination to take this project from conception to manufacturing and marketing. I have been a dental hygienist for the past 25 years and my husband Michael is a plastics expert and has worked in manufacturing for the past 20 years. Our combined knowledge of design and materials came together to create this unique product. Which has a utility patent pending. We also have a manufacturing company on board to help us produce and market our dental product.
We would like to produce a large number of these instruments to be able to keep the costs down to the consumer. To ensure that our product is the highest quality, both with the materials and manufacturing we need capital. Making the mold and purchasing the plastic will be the majority of the expense along with marketing to appropriate sellers. The plastic will be FDA medical grade with the ability to withstand high temperatures for sterilization and also be dishwasher safe.
We are asking for $100,000 which will get the mold made, make the instruments and market them as Plak-Piks which we have trademarked as well.
With your help we know we can accomplish this. Go PLAK-PIKS!
