Our names are Itzhak and Shira Fuchs, and we live in Israel.
We have 3 kids: Ethan who is 9 years old, Shmuel who is 8 years old, and our little gorgeous girl who was born after our two precious boys. Her name is Hannah (we named her after her grandmother) and she's 5 years old.
Hannah is an adorable little girl, and everyone who got to know her simply fell in love with her.
Just a couple of weeks ago, Hannah was diagnosed with Leukemia (acute lymphoblastic leukemia - ALL), after she's been feeling bad for a while, and went through medical checks.
Our natural reaction was to simply fall apart. But we understood that the only acceptable approach was to get ourselves together, and realize that we have to go through this tough, cruel battle with the terrible disease in order to save our precious angel.
In addition, Hannah suffers from a pretty severe infection as a result of her illness, and the Doctors have to cure it before they can proceed and treat her cancer. She suffers terrible pain, and it's so hard for us to see our little angel like this.
The hardest days are the ones in which Hannah is connected to tubes, and we aren't able to kiss her, and not even to touch her. These moments are too hard to describe in words.
Yet we understand it's time to face the problems and overcome them, so that Hannah will be cured.
The problem is that the insurance will not cover all medical expenses and Hannah's other needs throughout her treatment , and we're talking about very high expenses. In addition, Hannah's medical treatment and recovery period will probably take at least 3 years, and maybe even more. Both of us already work less time because of Hannah's treatment and earn less as a result, and it's very likely that Shira will have to give up her job so that she can fully dedicate herself to Hannah's battle.
We've never asked for donations before in our lives, and it is very hard for us to do so. Yet we don't have any other choice, as the medical expenses are enormous, while our incomes are lower as a result of the situation, and we will also be facing significant child care expenses for our two other children, as a result of our absence from home.
And this situation is going to last for at least 3 years.
Any donation of any amount you can make will be a blessing, and will be used to save Hannah. Thank you so much.
