Our entire cast and crew are deeply committed to this project, but would greatly appreciate the help and support of our family, friends, fans, and fellow creatives. Your contribution allows us to not only make this project, but will allow us to push towards our dream shopping the series.
What the Show is About
Years ago, Alex Polk wrote the Great American Novel, Lost In Indiana, under a pen name, but when she realized it was going to make her famous, she decided to stay hidden by opening a bookstore, Polk Fiction. She's managed to keep her secret for several years, even keeping it from her family and closest friends. But her secret is threatened when she hires her idiot nephew to work in the bookstore.
What We Need & What You Get
- Our goal is to raise $10,000 to produce the pilot episode of Polk Fiction. This will help us pay the cast and crew for their work on the show. Shooting is expected to take four days, and this will allow us to pay for everyone's time and skills.
- We're offering several perks for supporters at every level, including shout-outs in the credits, copies of the book used in the show, and even a chance to attend the cast-only screening of the pilot.
The Impact
Film and TV has always had a home in Florida. Our community is filled with working actors who are highly skilled and well trained in their craft. We consider ourselves fortunate to work with such a talented group of people and have them be a part of our project.
We want to help show that Florida has an excellent talent pool of not only actors and performers, but filmmakers, sound producers, and musicians.
Polk Fiction is set in Indiana, where Erik and Toni both grew up. It was important for us to tell a story revolving around our home state and the charm that surrounds it.
Although this is their first sitcom, the two have successfully created business books, novels, albums, singles, and syndicated humor columns.
Risks & Challenges
This is Erik's and Toni's first sitcom, and we realize there are a lot of things we need help with. So we immediately recruited several experts to help fill in the gaps and consulted people who were more than willing to lend their expertise. We are so grateful to everyone for their advice and experience.
Erik's writing partner, Jack, is a former sitcom writer in Hollywood who now lives in Indianapolis. (He even ran for Congress once!) And our director, Stanley, and director of photography, Jared, have made several movies and TV shows; and our cast have been in a variety of movies, shows, and commercials.
