Bugs are everywhere. Regardless of place, age, status, etc., everyone knows a bug! Because of their ubiquitousness bugs are often overlooked or ignored in our everyday lives, and many may not know that a miraculous micro world of insects and arachnids exists right under our noses, just waiting to be explored!

Portland Insectarium: We are an all-women team of biologists, artists, and entrepreneurs with a love of bugs and the desire to bring fantastic science knowledge and experiences to everyone.

Our Impact: We believe in promoting diversity within the sciences. Because we are mobile, Portland Insectarium’s BugMobile will allow us to bring educational museum experiences directly to the community, including to those who would otherwise have little access to such activities. 

To realize our vision of a unique mobile museum, we are remodeling a donated 20 ft RV, converting the interior and exterior into exhibit and display space. This involves removing several large appliances from the RV, adding additional counter space, building displays, signage and more. (Thanks to the ADX Portland fabrication team for their awesome assistance in making the BugMobile come to life!)

We believe in the power of hands-on and inquisitive learning. To develop engaging and memorable exhibit experiences we are also in need of equipment for interactive exhibits, such as magnifying glasses, microscopes, signage and visual media.
