Please Join Nepal Earthquake Disaster Relief

Dear Precious Loving Ones,

As you know, on April 25th Nepal was struck by a devastating 7.8 earthquake, and again on April 12th by a 7.3 magnitude aftershock. We, the Dzogchen Shri Singha Foundation USA, are now helping through Buddhist Master Geydak Rinpoche in Nepal.

Now, many organizations and individuals are helping the earthquake relief efforts in Nepal, but there is still a great shortage of aid because more than eight million people are affected. More than three million people are suffering from a shortage of food, medicine, clothes, and accommodations. More than 14,000 have been seriously injured and there are not enough medical facilities to help them. 7,200 people have died and this number may increase still. Our temple in Godawari and the monks’ living quarters have also been damaged, and some of our monks have been injured.

A lot of Nepali villages were struck so severely that not even a single house remains standing. Many of these villages are not accessible by vehicles. Rescue or aid has not reached a lot of these remote areas. Now the weather is very bad, and there will be a lot of rain or snow in the coming weeks and months. Many people are suffering and crying for help.

In order to ease the pains of the Nepali people, Geydak Rinpoche and our Sangha, already in Nepal, have been compassionately helping these affected people every day since the initial quake. We have already helped more than 40,000 people with basic disaster relief, traveling to more than 64 villages in remote areas. We so rejoice in what they are doing.

A Renewed Effort

At this time, the Dzogchen Shri Singha Foundation wants to raise money to support this aid project in Nepal. Everyone, please support this loving compassionate act. As a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization, every dollar you donate is eligible for tax deduction according to the full extent of the law.

100% of your donations will go directly to the people of Nepal for relief effort with no intermediaries.

Right now we are trying to provide over 1,000 families with basic shelters for the summer rainy season and the harsh weather of winter to come.

Of course we cannot support everyone in Nepal, but we must do our part.

It makes a big difference.

So far, we have distributed critical supplies and tools such as:

1.) 1,300 tents
2.) 10,000 shovels
3.) 1,000 hammers
4.) 2,500 pounds of nails
5.) 130,000 pounds of rice

And other essential medicines and various necessities such as shoes and clothes to those areas in greatest need. We have also provided hundreds of hot meals everyday to those who were injured.

What Help We Need Now

Since the initial earthquake, Geydak Rinpoche, his monks, and volunteers have been tirelessly working every day to bring much needed supplies. We are renting two trucks to carry the tons of rice and other supplies to the remote areas of Nepal where help is rarely received.

The hospitals in Nepal are nowhere near set up to receive such a vast number of people. Many of the wounded are left in the lobbies and in hallways. Their facilities have no ability to supply the needs of these suffering individuals. We have been feeding hundreds of hot meals to people in the hospitals every day. One thing we are greatly in need of is a dish sanitizer as there is no way to properly clean the utensils and dishes needed for this amount of people.

Every day our compassionate volunteers are also in the streets bringing disinfectant spray to help reduce the risk of disease, which is a very serious impending threat with the oncoming of the monsoons.

Later we also plan to help repair some historical holy sites that have been damaged or destroyed. If anyone would like to compassionately help this aid project, it is greatly appreciated. We will use 100% of whatever donations we receive to directly support this project and nothing else.

Geydak Rinpoche has ordered many supplies such as rice and tents from India to make sure that our donations go directly to the mouths, over the heads, and upon the feet of those who are in most need.

Facing Weather Challenges

Now that the monsoon season has begun, the worst case scenario is setting in, and the race to ensure shelter and lasting recovery is deepening. The roads are becoming more and more difficult to traverse and hope to reach the remote villages with aid is a manner of swift compassionate activity. Many people need supplies, and we are on the ground every day bringing it to them.

Other Ways You Can Help

You have the power to make a difference in the lives of others in a most desperate time. Your compassionate generosity can bring great relief to the people of Nepal! If you do not choose to donate through our Foundation, please help in any way possible.

The power of compassion in action is tremendous, and there are many things that you can do to help. Use the Indiegogo share tools to  share this campaign and spread the word.

Remember that everybody needs help sometime in life. You have an opportunity to be a hero for someone in great need. The power of compassionate action is immeasurable.

May all beings be free from suffering and the causes of suffering!
May all beings have happiness and the causes of happiness!
