I've been a singer-songwriter, performing in the Boston area and beyond since the mid-70's. My first band, New Harmony Sisterhood, recorded "And Ain't I a Woman" on the Paredon/Folkways label. It is now part of the Smithsonian American Folk collection.
I released a solo album of original songs, "Around the Next Bend," in the late 80's on the Flying Fish/Rounder label. That album was nominated for Folk album of the year in the Annual Boston Music Awards.
Following that I performed and recorded two additional albums, "If You Build It," and "Grand Design" with my 4 woman a capella group, Taproot, containing many of my original compositions. After a 10 year hiatus, Taproot has reconvened and performs in the Boston area.
Fast forward and I have returned to performing on my own with fantastic new backup musicians, including Eric Wells on guitar and harmony vocals, Eric Levenson on bass and Eric Kilburn on mandolin and dobro (that's right, three Erics!). And, I have written a slew of new songs which are ready and waiting for a new album of their own.
My plan is to go into the studio this fall, 2015. We'll be recording at Wellspring Sound in Acton , MA with Eric Kilburne at the board. Eric K. has recorded many of the finest acoustic and Americana musicians performing on the national stage. His response to a personal preview of the new material slated for this album was more than enthusiastic. He's eager, in addition to recording the album, to contribute his own world class mandolin backup.
I also am looking forward to bringing in as many other musicians on vocals and instrumentals as possible. All of these are people I've been fortunate to share both stage and studio with over the course of my music career in Boston.
This is where you come in....
Studio time is costly and that time determines the production possibilities for the songs. The more resources I have to work with, the more we'll be able to give each song the arrangement it deserves. In addition to guitar and bass, the sounds of fiddle, banjo, dobro and mandolin are already reverberating in my head.
Your contribution will allow me to continue to share my music, not just locally, but beyond. Anything you can offer will be deeply appreciated.
And PLEASE pass this along to anyone you know who might also be interested.
THANK YOU!!!!!!!!
Deborah
