Pride vs. Prejudice: Sullivan Solidarity Ball is an event being held on Saturday, April 20th, 2013 in Terre Haute, Indiana. Sullivan, Indiana recently made national headlines when a small group of parents, students and teachers from the area formed to plan a “traditional” prom upon hearing news that Sullivan High School would allow same-sex couples to participate in the school’s Grand March and Prom activities.
Pride vs. Prejudice: Sullivan Solidarity Ball is a response to the outpouring of love and support to the LGBTQ community from the community of Sullivan and around the world. This event will be open to all who wish to attend and show support and solidarity to the students and community of Sullivan who firmly believe that love has value and meaning regardless of sexual orientation.
PLEASE NOTE that we are in no way affiliated with Sullivan High School and we are VERY excited for all SHS students to be able to attend their prom with whomever they choose! This event is merely meant as a compliment to the local prom and as a larger celebration of equality and love for the entire community! Please know that we are NOT creating a separate prom! That is not our intention! This event is truly meant as a means for adults and kids from all walks of life to come together and celebrate equality and love! We 100% support the efforts of the SHS prom and wish all the kids who attend a magical night!

The Impact
There is nothing brave about having love in your heart for others. There is, however, something cowardly about wanting to deny people the same freedom that you enjoy and believing that the way you live is the only acceptable lifestyle that exists. By helping us, you are being fearless by using your voice and your wallet to promote equality, justice, and love while enabling us to cultivate conversation, provide clarity, and solidify a supportive and educated community. There is no greater impact you can make on this world!
Other Ways You Can Help!
This is a bold fundraiser for a worthy cause. But if you cannot contribute at this time, you can help by spreading the word. Word of mouth is really important if we're going to be successful! Please tell your family, friends, co-workers, colleagues, and associates about the Solidarity Ball and our goal to raise $9,000 in 45 days. That would be a HUGE help!
