What We're Creating
No Such Thing is an independent production company, dedicated to creating and sharing new works of audio drama fiction, and the development of strange new worlds through the power of storytelling. We create stories, set in the wildest corners of the universe, to explore just what it means to be human. Primordial Deep is an ongoing adventure/thriller, set in the expanded universe of No Such Thing's first series, Janus Descending. Written by Jordan Cobb, with sound design by Julia Schifini and music by Daryl Banner, the first season of Primordial Deep will be comprised of seven (7) episodes, each approximately 45 minutes in length.
“I’m building a universe,” Cobb explains, “I’m only half joking when I say I’ve got a constellation of stories moving through my head. You can take them individually, or look at them as they fit into the whole. I want to tell stories that inspire others to tell stories – to seek out the strange and wonderful things in their worlds by letting them explore mine. Primordial Deep is the next step. It’s going to handle exploration, loss, fear, and family, and hope – what it means to be alive, and what it means to be human – the things that drive us towards adventure, and the things that pull us closer to one another. I hope all my stories do that. And, I have to admit, this story, it just feels like such a natural next step because on the one hand – I FINALLY get to write about dinosaurs. And on the other hand, I have really REALLY missed writing my sea-monster babies.”
The story begins when a long extinct sea creature washes up on the shores of Coney Island. Marine biologist Dr. Marella Morgan is contacted by a secret organization to investigate the origins of the creature’s sudden and unnatural resurgence. Soon, she and a team of experts find themselves living on the research station The Tiamat, traveling along the abyssal plains as they search for answers far below the waves. But there are dangers in these ancient waters. Reawakened, prehistoric monsters are rising from the deep -- jaws wide and waiting, and in the darkness, something is stirring.
Who We Are
Jordan Cobb is the creator of Primordial Deep, as well as the voice of Dr. Marella Morgan, and Official Multiple Hat Wearer of No Such Thing Productions. As both a writer and an actress, she spends the majority of her time dreaming up new worlds, and doing everything she can to bring them to life. Now, she's poking her head out of her nest of paper and ink, with yet another story to tell, and the fervent hope that you'll join her for the adventure...
Julia Schifini is our sound designer extraordinaire, lured into crafting our wild and vivid soundscapes with promises of an ancient pirate's treasure map, and a specially reserved space on the Tiamat's life boats. Her work with No Such Thing Productions' Janus Descending was her first foray into professional sound design, and she has been recognized for her incredible work on several "Best of 2018 Podcasts" lists.
Daryl Banner is our composer, and his carefully crafted scores bring depth and color into our stories, and hang the constellations our imaginary skies. Primordial Deep is the third of Jordan's projects he has helped to set to sea, and he has been professionally composing music and writing his series of adult novels, full time since college.
How Can I Help? (Funding Breakdown)
We at No Such Thing Productions want to be able to provide you with stories you can carry throughout a lifetime. We're aiming high with the hopes that the better we treat our cast and crew, the better our stories will be when we give them back to you -- because these stories belong to you, our friends and dear listeners, and without you they wouldn't exist. Come join us on an adventure! With your help, we're building not just a world, but a full and vibrant universe.
So if you're wondering where exactly all this money is about to go... here's the breakdown:
Our primary goal is to be able to pay all of our phenomenal actors. We've got a cast of about twelve people, and we want to make sure they're fairly compensated!
Main Cast: $50 x episode = $1,950
Featured Supporting Cast: $50 x episode = $300
Ensemble actors: $15 x episode = $120
42% of this campaign will be going to all of these incredible people who help to bring this story to life! To cover our actor fees, we need to raise $2,370.
Next, we're setting aside funds for the people who physically knit this world together, including our:
Sound Editor: $1,500
Composer: $525
Writer/Director: $575
That's 48% or $2,600 for our tireless crew of misfits and world builders!
And finally, we're setting aside $530 (or 10%) to cover some of our basic production costs like hosting our RSS feed, maintaining our website, and of course, the 5% that IndieGoGo charges for hosting this campaign!

Stretch Goals
We're hoping against hope that we hit our goal. But if we manage to exceed it, never fear! We'll use those funds to make this world even bigger and better, by sharing EVEN MORE OF IT with you!
$6,000 - The Holiday Special: You like us! You REALLY like us!! If we reach our first stretch goal, we'll create a Holiday Special episode for Primordial Deep!
$7,500 - The Syndicate: Whoah, you guys are pretty serious about this show, huh? Okay. If we hit our second stretch goal, we'll create a four-part mini series for Primordial Deep, set in the headquarters of our secret organization, The Syndicate of Vis, where a young new initiative is about to uncover a secret that will set into motion a mad and desperate struggle for knowledge and power that will shake the very foundations of the ancient organization to its core.
$10,000 - The Epic: Just. Wow. Okay. Give us a second to Happy-Sob! If we reach this zenith of all stretch goals, we'll not only have enough funding for Primordial Deep, but we will ALSO be able to produce our other upcoming project Descendants, the Epic sequel to Janus Descending! We were going to give this to you anyways, but now it'll happen much MUCH sooner! To celebrate, Jordan will write a Primordial Deep novella (perhaps a spoof of a certain famous very bitey shark whose name rhymes with MAWS???) and we'll get the cast to do a series of dramatic readings!

Megalodon ($350) - If there was a shark as big as our love for you, it would have to be the size of a jumbo-jet and have teeth the size of a human hand! Pity we can't seem to think of any creatures that fit that description... On this very special tier, you'll have access to all digital rewards, as well as a sticker, thank you note, and a t-shirt.
