The Story
The Green Line started with a question: how does intergenerational memory sit in our hearts, minds, and bodies. Makram Ayache explored this pivotal question and found a compelling discordance with his rural Alberta upbringing and the cultural memories he inherited from his country of birth. This exploration led to The Green Line.
A vital part of play creation is the development staging. Through staging, a play can change, grow, and develop, and this is instrumental in landing the production with a theatre company.
The artists came together because they believed in storytelling that shares historically marginalized perspectives, they believe in the need for unique voices, and they believe in the potential of theatre to dig viscerally into these stories. All artists involved have invested their own finances to bringing the project to life.
We turn to our communities in the hopes of alleviating some of the cost of the design elements.
