Project: Blue Sky is the pilot for a technology / entrepreneurship center in a shipping container that will be deployed in economically underserved communities, providing resources and mentorship for local entrepreneurs to create and launch sustainable businesses.
The project is run by a non-profit called ReAllocate.org, which curates teams of world class talent and pairs them with specific technical projects, humanitarian organizations (other non-profits, NGOs) and resources to solve global challenges.
We are launching at Camp IDEATE at Burning Man, because the spirit of Burning Man is to actualize art and technology beyond our wildest dreams. Project: Blue Sky is the beginning of a larger effort that is creating portable infrastructure that will travel around the world.
Step 1: The Burning Man Experience
Imagine that you are in Black Rock desert close to Center Camp. You step into a brightly decorated space surrounded by ancient statues. You are ushered into a shipping container that has been converted into a high-tech innovation lab. You and your fashionable friend strike a pose which is captured with 3D software and converted into a 3D model. You are given a GPS transponder and specific instructions for your mission. On the way out you catch a lecture on "Scientific Exploration" and watch some aerial 3D footage of flying over Burning Man projected in a 3D imax dome.
After you leave, your image scan is 3D printed into a miniature statue and loaded into a capsule on a multi-copter. The copter navigates to your GPS location.
When your GPS transponder goes off, you look up as the multi-copter hovers above you. It gently lowers a padded capsule with your statue of you inside. You unwrap a 3D medallion of yourself.
Your only responsibility is to return the transponder and tell us your story for our documentary.

Project: Blue Sky is revolutionary in many ways – the drone delivery system is proving a model for military technology to be used for humanitarian purposes. We are working on solving the last-mile delivery problem for instances such as dropping medical supplies after a natural disaster, or land surveying for environmental impact.
Step 2:
After Burning Man, the Portable Innovation Center we are contructing for this project will travel to Alaska and work with 12 tribes who are being forced by climate change to migrate and have requested capacity building centers to create sustainable communities in their new location.

We are deploying units in Alaska, Oakland and Haiti.
Some of Our Team Members
![Norf]()
ReAllocate.org was founded by long time burner Dr. Mike North, who was a host of Discovery Channel’s Prototype This! where he created massive feats of engineering on very tight deadlines. Dr. North earned his bachelors in Mechanical Engineering and Masters/PhD in Materials Science and Engineering with a focus on rapid prototyping, biomimicry, and nanotechnology. He created ReAllocate to connect those at the Base of the economic Pyramid with the excess of the technology and resources that we enjoy.
![Dara]()
Our Project Manager, Dara Dotz, is an industrial designer who has been volunteering her skills in off-grid villages in Nepal teaching global leadership and social entrepreneurship. She has worked in development of osseointegration and creation of prosthetic limbs, she has designed human powered vehicles, and developed interactive projected museum exhibits to educate on culture.

Drone expert, ZiV Marom of ZM Interactive, owns a media studio specializing in motion graphics, web design, and web development. He builds his own drones and uses them to shoot badass aerial footage.
![Sandra]()
ReAllocate CEO, Sandra Kwak, is an entrepreneur on a mission to reduce global carbon emissions and increase human resiliency. She founded two energy efficiency companies and has an MBA in Sustainable Business.
These are just a few of the ReAllocaters on our amazing team of engineers, finance wizards, builders, designers, movers, shakers and change makers!

Project: Blue Sky will be located at camp IDEATE at 6:30 and Ring Road / Columbine, close to Center Camp. If you find yourself nearby on the playa, please stop by and visit our camp.
Whether you are coming to Burning Man this year or not, we would love for you to take part in bringing this project to life, supporting our global mission of providing access to technology and resources.
So far, thanks to contributions from our amazing funders and donors, we have been able to secure:
-
3x 20’ Shipping Containers
-
An immersive video dome
-
4x Cubify 3D Printers
-
Multi-copters (hex-, octo-, and more!)
-
Build space at 180º South
-
Re-Char Factory in a Box (metal fabrication facility - think plasma cutter and welding)
-
Sanivation Composting Solar Toilets
We need your help pulling together the remaining pieces to complete Project: Blue Sky. Your contributions will help us to obtain:
-
Video projector with fish eye lens to project amazing aerial footage we are collecting with our multi-copters on the inside of our dome - sharing the immersive 3D aerial experience!
-
Fabrication and of all the necessary infrastructure, materials and supplies
-
Food and water for our volunteers
-
Transport from Treasure Island to Black Rock City
Every dollar given to this project will not only provide a 3D interactive art experience which repurposes military technology for peace, but will benefit a project that puts capacity-building innovation hubs in economically underserved areas, providing access to technology and resources.
Thank you so much for your contribution.
