Miracle-M is a new side-scrolling action game that takes the best aspects of the 16-bit era classics, and infuses them with modern tech and new mechanics!
We started this project around April 2013, but development was halted in the same year. One reason was perhaps the appearance of a spiritual successor of Mega Man on Kickstarter. After two years we decided to continue the project.
Below are some images of our designs back in 2013. Our goal today is higher and we want to offer a game with better quality, which will translate into an overall improvement of the final product.
The Hero: Miracle Max Max’s main skills:
● Max-Power As long as your energy is over 80%, Max can maximize the power of the currently equipped weapon. If you play carefully and avoid being hit, you can defeat your enemies more easily.
● Energy Dash You can activate the Energy Dash mechanism when jumping. This allows you to dash from one point to the other, damaging the enemies that stand in your way. This skill consumes your energy, use it carefully!
These two skills are unique to Max and they offer more choices during gameplay. You can play it safe, avoiding damage and preventing your energy from dropping below 80% in order to attack your enemies at full shooting power, or you can try to clear the level faster, neglecting your energy and using average shots.
Combat profiles
In Miracle-M you will be able to customize Max’s status through experience points obtained during gameplay. Using these points, you can progressively improve your speed, jumps, damage resistance and energy consumption.
Up to two combat profiles can be configured and easily swapped while playing, enabling you to be ready to face whatever enemies come your way. For example, you can set up a profile that favors speed and one that reduces the damage received during combat. Fine-tuning Max’s performance is in your hands!
The development lab
In Miracle-M, there are six power gems that have been stolen by the enemy. Unlike Mega-Man games where you obtain the boss’s power after defeating them, in Miracle-M you will recover one of the gems and it will give you points of power that can be used to upgrade your weapons. Max can combine the power of two gems at the same time, and thus the number of shooting patterns is higher than the number of bosses defeated during gameplay.
As Max is an android operating through complex programming algorithms, his weapons are no different. Miracle-M will feature a laboratory where new shooting patterns can be experimented on and developed using and allocating the gems’ points of power.
The firing patters can be shared online and rated by the community. Early-access players can experiment on and discover new weapons before everyone else! And there’s more, we have decided to double the number of points of power given to the people contributing to the campaign, allowing them to develop the initial weapons of the community.
Our story
unfolds in a planet that has enjoyed centuries of peace and harmony, sustained
by gems that stand as power source for this world and maintain its
stability.
Miracle-M
begins when this planet is invaded by a spaceship fleet set to obtain the power
gems. The
presence of these ships triggers the planet’s defense system. One of the
defense weapons is Max, a humanoid guardian robot activated to ward off the
invasion.
Max is our
hero and his mission is to recover the gems stolen by six invading beasts led
by a mysterious woman. Who is this intriguing woman and what are her plans for the gems? We are going to unravel this mystery when Max faces this enigmatic woman.
We are planning to include some animated sequences in the game's storyline if we reach specific stretch goals. Our team is formed by talented people in the animation field and we want to achieve what Capcom did in previous Mega Man games using some cool animation scenes in the game.
Developing video games is expensive and time-consuming. We showed this project to a couple of publishers, but we had no luck. Their response was that there is no interest in a platform game despite the fact that we are sure this project will be a success!
We decided to go with Indiegogo because it provides us a unique opportunity to interface directly with our fans and make a game where the end user can share their expectations.
We know that the final game is going to be great. We believe that we have the required skills and attitude to make a successful game. We just need to be heard by all fans of Mega Man in order to reach our goals and get the funding needed for this project. Please support us and be part of the beginning of this new saga. We need you!
The base value requested in this campaign accounts for the entire game experience as we have envisioned it. However, we have so many great ideas that the more we are able to raise, the greater the chance to make those ideas come true.
Our stretch goals will mainly focus on improving the game, expanding its availability to other platforms and adding some features that will not cause delays in the project.
Miracle-M is being developed for PC, and will be made available through Steam. Other platforms, including home consoles, are a high priority, but only if we can afford them via stretch goals. Should we reach those goals, when this campaign is over we'll be sending out a survey to contributors who pledge for a digital copy, through which you will be allowed to choose which version of the game you would like to receive.

Is this another Mega Man spiritual successor?
We cannot deny that we drew inspiration from Mega Man to develop this game. There are many Mega Man fans among our ranks, and we have played those games countless times. This project is not a Mega Man clone, however. It will innovate and, later on, the progressive introduction of new characters will reveal the full lineup of the Guardians of the Gems.
What languages can we expect?
The voice tracks will be in Japanese and the texts in English and Spanish. More languages may be added, depending on the number of people contributing to the project.
Are you planning a Wii U release?
Wii U is in our plans, but development for Wii U must be addressed carefully. The restrictions it entails, as compared to other consoles, require us to be more careful and to allocate more time in order to achieve the same user experience. Then there’s the matter of Amiibo, an exclusive Wii U feature that would require its own particular schedule, which cannot be included in our development time frame yet.
Are you affiliated with Capcom?
No, this is an independent project and we have no relation whatsoever with Capcom or Mega Man, other than the type of game we are developing. However, we have not dismissed the possibility of future collaboration with other companies to include known characters in our game as optional content.
Is Dr. Light the creator of Max?
No, neither Dr. Light nor Dr. White. There will be no Dr. Shine or anything along those lines. We want this project to find its own identity and we want to avoid similarities with other games. Max was created by someone, but this person will be revealed at the end of the game.
What’s happening if the project fails to reach to the goal? Do you have a strategy?
The idea behind this campaign is collecting the funds to ensure and speed up the game’s development, in addition to making it available on other platforms. The amount collected, however small, will be useful for the project. The people supporting this campaign will benefit either through early access or extra content. Moreover, the game’s final price will be higher than the price offered in the campaign, and we’re also considering sharing an alpha version with our contributors.
We may launch another campaign in the future, but the benefits will not be the same. If you really like our project and can afford to contribute, please do! Don’t wait for others to do it first!
