Revue Labs is going to begin #PROJECTLABS to
raise awareness and funds to host online streaming sessions with top developers to teach kids the most important aspects of game development, right from the desks of working developers.
Every kid in America owns a gaming system of some kind. Why don’t we reach out
to the world and show parents and kids alike that there is a future in
technology for them? We’ve already been talking to education specialists,
teachers, and developers, and there is a very real
need for this kind of campaign. It’s really hard to imagine the kind of
progress that can be made with a little push, so we need to do everything that
we can to ensure this is a success.
What exactly will
the money be spent on?
Staff Articles
and Content for the Month of July
Our staff needs to make a living wage while they support our various campaigns
and causes. Dedicating our site to one singular goal for an entire month would
be counterproductive without proper financial compensation for the people
involved in making this all a reality.
Marketing and
Promotion
Facebook advertising, Twitter advertising, other social network and website
advertising are absolutely vital to the survival and cultivation of a project
like this. We need to make sure that as many people as possible are made aware
of this campaign, and we can’t do that without putting a little bit of money
into the social media machine. This also includes our crowdfunding campaign.
When we have an operating budget for the campaign, we can start the hard work
of securing more money and partnerships to start putting together our first batch of content. Our streams would be done through Twitch.tv and freely available to anyone who wants to learn about game development or programming.
Funds will be used to turn
our outreach into an official 501c (Non Profit) and to facilitate this service. This means anything from staffing our educational sessions to building costs to equipment costs later on. All of the money raised in the campaign will be put to good use,
directly benefiting these sessions.
Donations of
Software
Kids will need amazing software to learn about the world of technology. Word
processing, graphic design, visual design, and programming languages are skills
both useful to the individuals that learn them and the massive tech industry
and all its consumers. These things will become the vital curriculum that
enriches every student that passes through the halls of #PROJECTLABS, and with
that step towards universal technological literacy, we hope to facilitate a
learning environment that will benefit the technological landscape for
generations to come.
Top Tier Staff
and Volunteers
These labs can’t be run without passionate, intelligent people who have a drive
for the next generation of teaching. With our vast connections and resources in
the gaming industry, we’ve started building a roster of some of the brightest
minds in tech to administrate classes at #PROJECTLABS.
Revue Labs needs to raise this money before August 1st to get the
ship sailing, and for a young site like ours, this is an ambitious goal. We
believe, however, that with our experience, connections, and passion for the
cause, we can do this. Anything that you can contribute will be put to good
use, from tech to experience or even a post on your website, blog, or social
media channel. Remember, the focus here is the kids. Public school computer labs
suck, and typically the iPhones in kids’ pockets are more advanced than the
learning tools the state provides them. We are fostering a new generation of
hungry minds to learn useful skills that will benefit the world as a whole in
this digital age. All we ask is a little help getting there.
Sincerely,
The Revue Labs Staff
