Our Story
I'm Nathaniel Dueber, the writer and director behind this project and my fellow collaborators are a group of students at Chapman University's Dodge College of Film and Media Arts. Our fundraising is going towards our Intermediate Productions (IP's). They are very short films, roughly 5-10 minutes. Each film must be under three pages, have 2 characters maximum, and encompass one scene. Pre-production has already been underway for several weeks and we start filming in late March in Orange county.
The plot of the film concerns a psychologically disturbed young man, Damien, who has been sent to see a psychologist. Unbeknownst to him his psychologist, Jill, is the sister of his late wife, whom she is convinced he murdered.
The Impact
The Intermediate Production's are the smallest productions our school does and they essentially operate like no budget films. While later workshops such as Advanced Productions and Senior Thesis films offer more to work with in terms of supplies and crew, I'm most anxious to work on my IP because it pretty much forces the group to rely on raw creativity. We really hope to construct something that shows the value of the cinematic story, no matter how brief the film is. We ask to be taken seriously as filmmakers and each person in our group has chosen to dedicate their lives to an art where the next job is never certain. For us, our situation truly is a "the greater the risk, the greater the reward" scenario.
What We Need & What You Get
Our goal is $1000. While it doesn't seem flattering or helpful some of the funds will be going towards, yes I am about to say it... FOOD! When working on set for 12 hours a day it is absolutely crucial that we keep both the crew and the talent fed, hydrated, and happy.
As of now the actors are working for free. Being an actor is not an easy job and student films are already limited enough in budget, if the budget allows we hope to be able to pay the actors for their work and dedication to the project.
We will require a makeup artist for Damien's character to give him some scars and help to complement the performance of psychological torment
We'll need to be misc. accessories to work on set. Items like these include air cans to clean the camera, grip tape, clothes pins, and other disposable items that can be expended while working on a film set
Other Ways You Can Help
The film is for a class so we're not planning on taking it to any festivals, but if you want to help through non-monetary means throw a prayer our way or drop a letter of encouragement to
