I am humbly extending this to all of you, in hopes that you may be inspired to help me in my time of need.
In the fall, my 14 year old, Meow Foundation rescue, Richard, developed diabetes and kidney disease and rapidly deteriorated. Even with insulin shots and IVs, a special diet and other medications, it was determined that the best course of action for him would be to ease his suffering. I was heartbroken.
After losing Richard, in late December Puffy came down with a case of feline herpes, something that many shelter kitties acquire (95% of cats have been exposed, 80% become carriers for the disease), likely brought on by stress. I followed the normal vet-prescribed routine, however, her condition worsened. When her eye was washed by the vet, it was discovered that she had perforated her right eye and it was so severe that the eye itself would have to be removed immediately. I cannot express how upsetting it was to have my sweet little friend endure such a painful experience and require an enucleation.
Thankfully, she’s now making a full recovery, her cone and stitches have been removed and she’s getting back to her normal, goofy, Puffy personality. Now she’s Pirate Puffy. Considering the circumstances, it’s all gone very well, however, the medical expenses were unplanned and took a large financial toll upon me, especially as I'm still struggling to deal with Richard's steep medical expenses.
If you feel compelled to help, I would be eternally grateful. All monies raised will go directly to paying off Puffy’s incurred medical expenses. Thank you for your kind words, support and love in all forms, it means so much to me.
Much love,
Mari
