What is R Culture?

A new play commissioned by director producer and survivor Emily Lerer, to raise awareness of rape culture through a satirical lens, pushing boundaries, and challenging the culture of modern America in a both audience friendly and disturbing format. R Culture is an original work written by Cecilia Copeland an up and coming playwright who was just named person of the year of 2013 by Indie Theater Now! The play combines elements of circus, comedy and dark material dealing with Rape Culture. The project aims to find moments where it is appropriate to allow the audience members to laugh when dealing with difficult subject matter. The play aims to expose a long silenced problem in an open and safe dialogue through theater performance. One of this works goals is to connect to the ongoing work of Survivor Organizations and Advocacy groups (such as St Lukes Roosevelt Hospital Crime Victims Treatment Center)  for social change. 

Contributions will allow this very important new play to have a platform giving a voice to those so often silenced.
