Summary
Rachel is a new musical about biologist and nature writer Rachel Carson. Jared and I were so excited to be accepted into All Out Arts' 2015 Fresh Fruit Festival this summer - it means our show will have its first full production! But although the Festival covers many costs (venue, marketing, tech support etc.) we need your help to come up with the rest. Help us continue to share Carson's story!
What We Need
We hoping to raise $8,000 through this campaign. This will allow us to:
- Pay our creative team (director, music director, stage manager, designers)
- Hire professional actors
- Pay for our rehearsal space
- Purchase appropriate costumes, props, set pieces
The Show
Rachel will be presented at the 2015 Fresh Fruit Festival at the Wild Project Theatre in Manhattan. There will be performances on:
Monday, July 20th: 7pm
Wednesday, July 22nd: 8:30pm
Saturday, July 25th: 2pm
The Impact
Jared and I are both deeply dedicated to our art, and committed to sharing this important story - but we're just starting out. We work hard at our day jobs to fund our passions in the arts, but the truth is, we just don't have enough to do this on our own. The Fresh Fruit Festival is an invaluable opportunity to forward the life of our play. As artists, we can't pass up on chances like this. But as part-producers, we need help. We will not be personally compensated for our work on this project; your donations will spare us the need to deplete our savings and make other personal sacrifices to make this dream a reality.
Last summer, Rachel was accepted as a developmental reading in the New York Musical Theatre Festival (NYMF). The work we did and the incredible connections we made at that time are why we now have the chance to put on a full production this summer. If this summer goes well, who knows what future we can secure for this important story?
