My name is Dan Nystedt, I am a filmmaker from Northern Ontario, Canada…Sault Ste. Marie to be exact.
Several years ago a friend of mine told me about an amazing experience they had volunteering at a Summer Camp for LGBT2++ youth, it was called Rainbow Camp. My initial reaction was that it was pretty cool that there was a LGBT camp in the area, however when I learned that the campers came from all across Canada because there are no other camps like it, I was amazed. Then I had to ask myself, “why isn’t there a camp like this in every city, town and village across our country?”
I have spent over 2 1/2 years working with the founders of the camp and the Board of Directors that make the camp a reality. This past summer I secured permission from the Boards, staff and campers to spend 2 weeks at Rainbow Camp with a film crew and document the experience and stories behind who these people are and why they travelled from far and wide to a camp in Northern Ontario.
We now have hundreds of hours of footage and a solid vision of what the end product will be, but we need some support to get to the finish line. We still need to complete the post-production, editing, create and record a score, audio mixing, colour correction and market it to the world!
We believe in this film, and are sure you will too. If you are interested in being part of this amazing film you can help us by supporting us through this campaign.
Help us spread the word.
Thanks,
Dan
