Who is Rainy Road?

Beginning in 2013, while living in China, I decided to try one more shot at getting into the comic book biz. So I started the Rainy Road Comics/Media imprint and hired artists from around the world to help bring my various ideas to life.

The books were first published digitally with the hope of creating a supportive fanbase and with the intention of ultimately having print versions one day.

Fast-forward to today and I currently have three physical books thanks to some tax return money and a few generous backers via Kickstarter. I still have a small amount of copies of each book available and have decided to offer the Indiegogo audience the chance to catch up on what they've been missing and to prepare for what's about to come.

Since the books are printed and ready to be shipped, they will be packed and shipped out the next business day. After your pledge is locked in, your book(s) will be mailed to you in a mylar bag inside of a Gemini mailer. (Unless you order a bunch of stuff that won't fit inside a Gemini mailer. In that case, your order will come in other suitably sturdy packaging.)

NOTE: The campaign must first reach the minimum goal of $500 before any items can start to be shipped out. 

What does "a la carte" mean?

It means you can pick and choose from 3 awesome books (and some cool extras) that are already printed and have them shipped out to you as soon as your pledge has been locked. Get 1, 2 or the whole shebang! Get multiple copies! But note that quantities are very limited and once they're gone, they're gone.

All physical perks will include this special 6-page ashcan preview of Rainy Road's next big project, "GunEngine Zero", which will launch in spring, 2022.

PDFs of each book (except for Agents of S.H.H.) are available for backers that prefer digital or for international backers, since we'll only be shipping physical books to USA addresses.

Each book is also available as an add-on with a base physical perk.

NEOTHERIC - First printing limited to 100 copies!

This is a 96-page graphic novel collecting the first 4 issues of what is intended to be an on-going series.

Dinosaurs did NOT go extinct. They have been used by their alien slave-masters -- at the direction of a powerful, cosmic being -- as biological terraformers. But they have evolved and some of them yearn to live free. So a small group of audacious dinos escapes and makes their way to a former homeworld: modern-day Earth. Their actions cause widespread panic and chaos and they're besieged by enemies from all corners of the cosmos who are trying to reestablish the status quo.

It's an absurd, irreverent, violent satire of the modern world pitting man versus beast versus aliens versus a god! This graphic novel has remastered lettering and extras not seen in the original, digital issues.

six:eight - First printing limited to 80 copies!

A 40-page horror story about a random act of violence with supernatural consequences.

On his way home late from work one night, Anthony Leon is attacked and critically injured by two street thugs looking to score some cash to buy drugs. But when they discover that his wallet is empty, they decide to head to his home to continue their rampage. With his last breaths, Anthony pleads for salvation for his unsuspecting family and, surprisingly, his prayer is answered. But who could have the power to grant vengeance to a dead man?

This was originally intended to be a self-contained, one-shot story but I've since developed it into additional future chapters, each with multiple issues. Chapter 2 will most likely have 4 issues.

This print version contains an exclusive epilogue, not in the original digital version, that hints at the true nightmare that is boiling under the surface.

In 2018, Charlie Adlard (The Walking Dead artist) chose it as the Horror Comic of the Year from the books on the ComixCentral website.

BOOK OF LEGEND - First printing limited to 75 copies!

This is a 52-page anthology of 9 short stories that were originally published digitally as "Ashcan Anthology #1: Future Imperfect" and "Ashcan Anthology #2: Hero's Journey".  While those were all in black and white, this print version is in full-color.

The first 4 stories are sci-fi tales with an ironic twist in the tradition of 2000 AD's "Future Shocks". The remaining 5 stories were my attempt to create unique characters that explored the concept of the heroic myth through different eras or genres. There are golden-age heroes and villains, pulp crimebusters, a orphaned ninja assassin, a degenerate vampire slayer, greedy sentient mechs and a soldier fighting aliens from a parallel dimension.

Some, if not all, of these characters could see their adventures continue in a future anthology or their own series.

Agents of S.H.H. #1  and #2 mini-comics with trading cards - $5.00

My 9-year-old daughter created, wrote and drew these 12-page mini-comics (with a little help from dear, old dad) that is in the tradition of children's adventure/humor books like Captain Underpants and Geronimo Stilton. It comes with 1 Pokemon-style trading card per book. The 2 cards in each picture is just to show the front and back of the card.

As I've done in the past, we will match the total number of books sold and donate them to Comicbooks For Kids, which sends comics and other cool stuff to kids in hospitals and cancer centers. So, if you pledge for 2 copies, we will also send 2 copies to CB4K. You can also tell us if you'd rather have some or all of your pledged books sent to the charity instead. For example, you can pledge for 2 books and tell us to send you 1 copy and the other copy to the charity.
