I am Laura Levine
Gumina--I live now in a senior apartment building.... a healthy and
active sixty-five year old, living independently with a fulfilling
life. This had certainly not always been the case. This recovery only
began after close to three years with the treatment E.M.D.R. (Eye
Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing)
The original film:
"Chronicle" tells the story of a bipolar woman, and puts a personal
face on mental illness. The intention of original film is to get an
inside view of what it is like- first hand to live with a bipolar
disorder- the soaring heights and dismal lows. Twenty-three psych ward
visits, ten ECT treatments, (Electra-Convulsive-Therapy) Known on the
street as "shock treatments"...
Life in group homes...prescription
drug addiction, unusual sexual behavior, severe depression with suicide
attempts compounded the failure to cope and function.
This film
brings Laura to the age of 53. She is still despondent- yet manages to
maintain a successful career in theatre education, and directing,
performing.
Four years later, Laura undergoes E.MDR therapy- for over two years- and
begins recovery towards a peaceful, contented and even joyful life.
Yes. Success!
I wish to raise the funds needed to complete this film- add the
EM.D.R. sessions. This is a vitally important and successful therapy for
PTSD, Bipolar disorder, anxiety, depression and other related
psychiatric difficulties.
It is endorsed by the World Health Organization, the Veterans
Administration, The American Psychiatric Association, The Defense
Department, and many other respected authorities- as well as hundreds
of thousands of clinicians and over two million clients.
Many unrefutable studeis have proven the effecacy of this method of
therapy.
We just want to edit the original file of this movie-
consult artistically with the filmmaker about his concept of an
introduction and conclusion which would include the important EMDR
sessions and the postove impact it has had on my life. To complete this
movie, we would need to bring the filmmaker back to Detroit, pay for the
filming and help distribute.
To dispel the stigmas against the mentally ill, and to promote the
efficacy of E.M.D.R. could change the lives of many people whom are now
suffering.
We could then cnter the completed film into festivals
and to public venues of distribution ( which does cost money in most
cases) This is my dream.
Thank-you for your support.
