Raven Hockey is a Calgary based hockey stick company building sticks specifically for players that are under 80 pounds.

Why are we doing that?

It's really a selfish motive, we are three hockey dads who want our kids to shoot better. . . a crazy Canadian-parent selfish motive coupled with a bit of male-curiosity.

The lowest flex junior stick selection in the market right now is a 50 flex. To be able to flex it properly a player would need to be around 110 - 130 pounds!

What should we fit our 45-65lbs players with?

So how about building a 20 flex stick?

With a 20 flex stick a younger player can learn how to properly sweep and load up the stick. Once they can do that, they can groove the mechanics of how to shoot the puck in stride without reverting to the dreaded 'flick' or other poor shooting habits.

Armed with curiosity & some prototypes, we went to the bio-mechanics lab at the University of Calgary to get some data (Dads love data).

Some of our neighborhood snipers came out to the study, we filmed them with state of the art 3D cameras, studied the flex, studied the release and wow, what a difference in the shot. The players could load the stick, and the puck flew! Forming our tagline 'Let it Fly'.

Armed with data and a solution, we are on a mission to teach kids to shoot better. The first step is to have the right gear that fits. For kids that are under 80 pounds, that first stick is a Raven FLEX20.

The Raven Flex20 is the very first hybrid Junior stick on the market and has been designed with;

1. Junior shaft for greater puck control
2. Junior blade for improved passing and shooting 
3. 47" height to fit younger players under 4'3" and between 40-65lbs
   
4. 20 flex to give greater puck 'feel' and to learn to shoot correctly
5. 280g for a super-light pro touch
6. Two curve options, C87 Sauce or C19 Snipe
7. Carbon fiber dual-core foam pro blade

The Raven EpicFLEX30 will be our second hybrid junior stick and be designed for players under 4'8" and between 50-75lbs.

After prototyping for 4 years and 1 University research project, we have manufactured the best pro quality Junior stick for younger players.  The stick is made from a special combination of Carbon fiber, Fiberglass and Kevlar with a dual-core blade.  At 280g the Raven Flex20 is super light with a responsive blade and flex that lets you feel the puck.
