Justin is a film editor surrounded by performances. Sick of sitting in a dark room watching others, he starts to envision ‘70s cabaret style performances of his own. When a new relationship starts to develop, Justin has to decide how badly he wants to come out from behind the camera.
This short film is about performance on and off stage - how Justin performs his roles as a gay man, as an editor, and as a twenty-something sexual being.

I’m interested in the roles we choose to perform, as well as the roles we’re forced to perform. How does one act when meeting an online hookup for the first time? No one is the same in private and in public; we all perform differently in different situations, even if we don't realize it. And how does that affect how a performer works on stage?
Justin tries on different gay male roles in his dream performances, trying to find one that suits him. In a time where everything private seems to be made public, where we seem to know everything about one another before a first date, Justin envisions making his private life public through "cabaret confessionals." Once Justin understands he’s always been a performer, he decides to take it on stage.

In order to make our film happen, we need your help! Though NYU is covering our insurance and most of our equipment costs, we have other unavoidable expenditures such as vehicles, meals for cast and crew, and locations. Keeping in similar with fashion with Blake's other films, we have created as low a budget as possible - just enough to tell the story

Camera and G&E- NYU is providing most of our equipment, but because we are shooting part of the movie on 16mm film, we have to order the film and pay for processing, which can get expensive.
Locations- We will be shooting on a soundstage and an apartment in the NYC area. The soundstage will be covered by NYU, but we will have to pay to rent an apartment.
Props and Costume- We need to dress our actors and create the film's environment.
Vehicles and Food- In order to transport the equipment, we will need to rent a cargo van to drive equipment to and from our locations around the city. All of our amazing, talented crew is working for free, so of course we need to feed them well.
Marketing, Festivals, and Post-Production- Once the film is completed, we will need to pay a colorist and a sound designer to finish the film. We also plan on sending the film out to a number of festivals which involves a number of fees to enter and create our own press kits.

We have an extremely passionate team around us, but we can not make this film happen without your help! Please check out the right side of our page to see some of the fabulous perks we're giving out as thanks to those of you who donate!
As much as we’d appreciate you spending even more money you don’t have around the holidays, there are other ways to help if you care about the project. If you know someone who would love this film, send the page to them. Post it on Facebook, Twitter, Tumblr, Instagram, Snapchat, LinkedIn, Secret, Tinder, Grindr, Jack’d, Scruff, Hornet. I’d ask you to pick up the phone and call someone but that’s ridiculous. Maybe send a nice handwritten card with the link.
Seriously. Indiegogo notices when the project is being posted and talked about and reposted.
WE JUST REALLY APPRECIATE ANYTHING THANK YOU.
