Introduction
My name is Lorelle Rau, and Reclaimed
| Retold serves as my final thesis project for graduate school. For
this project, I am curating a pop-up exhibition that features six assemblage
artists who use found objects and/or salvaged materials to create new works of
art.
About
I will execute all aspects of the exhibition including curating, coordinating,
marketing, installing, selling, planning an opening reception, and of course
raising funds. Organizing this project from start to finish will allow me to
utilize the knowledge and skills I have gained while pursuing a Master’s at
SCAD and from my seven years of experience working in arts administration.
Value of Art
The visual arts are important to me, and I am dedicated to pursuing a career in
this field because I believe that viewing fine art energizes and encourages
creativity, discussion, and appreciation of life and one’s surroundings. The
completion of this project will be an important addition to my professional
portfolio, as I will gain the experience I need to open or manage an art
organization in the future.
Why Support?
There will be a number of career benefits not only for me but for the artists
involved. They will receive a great deal of publicity, and they will have the
opportunity to sell their work. Many of them are shipping artwork from out of
state at their own cost, and one of my goals is to help pay for it.
Fundraising Goal
My overall fundraising goal is $2,200, which would cover the costs of the
gallery rental fee, marketing, insurance, artwork shipping, reception, signage,
and other related expenses, like lighting and installation hardware.
I hope you will join me in making this exhibition a
success! If you are unable to contribute, please feel free to share my campaign
on Facebook and/or pass it on.
Thank you so much for your support!
Lorelle
