Join Brent Bartley in his quest for
redemption and revenge in Setty McIntosh's first sci-fi drama short film, produced
in the
streets of New York!
A former black ops agent is hired to protect a prized scientist Kumari Shaw but he compromises his expertise and his job when he falls in love with her; blindsided he is betrayed by a friend and partner and loses more than just his reputation.
Set in the near future, ReUp is
centered around Brent Bartley, a highly skilled gun-for-hire. Brent is brought on as a private security
operative for CGN with one responsibility; protect his client Kumari. Kumari’s charm, beauty and intelligence lead Brent to breaking the codes
of
client protection–never make it personal.
In a surprise attack that costs him
Kumari, Brent also
loses his hand. After further investigation he finds the
cause to be a betrayal by his former partner and
friend Solomon Chang. Brent
teams up
with two security strategists (Joseph Porter and Abel
Montes)
. They rehabilitate Brent’s body providing him with a cybernetic hand and to the best of their ability, his mind.
Can Brent overcome guilt and failure while seeking redemption and
exacting revenge against Solomon? A showdown is imminent.
We're a group of
film, television and design
professionals whose love of comics and science fiction has inspired us
to make
a film short that displays
our multi-cultural backgrounds...we are the "Oscar
Waos!" ReUp features
lead actor Brent Bartley. A former Bronx
native and certified Muay Thai trainer at the world class Renzo Gracie Academy. His skill and expertise will be put on display along with fellow actors Christopher Tan and
Ayesha Jordan and a strong
supporting cast!
From Star Wars to Star
Trek, Alien to Blade Runner, science fiction films
have always influenced director
Setty McIntosh. On both a technical and emotional
level, these stories led Setty to a career in
television and film, first as an editor then as a producer and director.
From film
school to the years he
worked at MTV, VH1, Viacom and Time Warner, all of his
professional experience has been grounded by a love for science fiction. This love has helped him envision a story driven by fringe technology
and
scientists who're covertly employed by ruthless corporations. Their
underground labs populate inner cities providing technology for
para-military
operatives who undergo experiments vying for the opportunity to become
living
weapons.
With your contribution
every dollar
raised will go towards production and helping to improve the overall
quality of
the film. We're pooling our limited resources to develop props and pay
for
locations and equipment rentals. An integral part of the production is
the special effects and the prosthetic hand. The cost of materials to complete this
is of great importance and expensive!
Below is a breakdown of how
crowd-source funding will be used.
Our goal is $20,000
Although anything we receive, is greatly appreciated we hope to go above and beyond our goal to maximize our production and deliver the very best possible result.

The major challenge we face is monetary
. With your help we'll accomplish
our goal of making a solid Sci-Fi short and a launching pad for more
productions. We want you to look back and be proud of what you're help is going
to accomplish.
