Hello!
I'm Cameron Cox, a college student with a love and passion for fun, but thought-provoking stories set in futuristic, stylized worlds.
After four years of hard work, failure, and soul-searching, my team and I are not only confident that story-telling is our biggest strength and our calling, but that our ideas can offer something new to an industry riddled by remakes, reboots, and cookie-cutter ideas.
Films like "Children of Men", "Arrival", "The Invitation", "Terminator" and video games like "Metal Gear Solid" and "Resident Evil", are what inspire myself as a writer and director and have laid the groundwork for who I am as a creative.
But what really, truly inspires myself and my team us is our social and political climate.
We live in a scary time in the world, where no matter what you believe, the answers to our world's problems only seem to sprout new ones in the process. We are confused, afraid, and lost. Some are even hopeless. If you don't feel this way, one must admit the world we thought we knew is changing into something we didn't ever expect.
We believe the ambiguity surrounding the zombies in our story perfectly parallels the mystery of our world's future and the fears of the people, and this is why we've chosen zombies as opposed to aliens, or anything else.
This is the driving force behind "Revelation", and combined with my own writing and directorial touch, my producer's wit, and my director of photography's talent, our team is confident we can bring a fresh movie for audiences to enjoy, relate to, and be nourished and inspired by.
What We Need & What You Get
It is our belief that, while films can't be made without money, good, memorable, and inspiring stories are only as good as the script, the team producing it, and how that team utilizes the big (or small) pool of resources at their disposal.
Thus, if we don't make our budget, all proceeds still contribute to the film's production and the project still moves forward.
This is how important the project is to us.
No matter how much you donate, all contributors will receive a copy of the film, original soundtrack, and a formal "thank-you" in the film's credits.
Those who donate between 15 and 200 dollars are eligible to also receive opportunities like running our behind-the-scenes snapchat during our shoot, gaining access to early screenings, receive props and costumes, have your business/artwork promoted in our shoot/social media pages, and even attend the premier.
In some cases, larger donations will also receive the perks of lower tier rewards. For example, if you donate 150 dollars, you will receive Executive Producer Credit as the 125 dollar donation also entails.
(Contributors are responsible for their own transportation when attending the premier and are rewarded with on-set experiences.)
The Impact
By donating, you are helping us achieve more than the creation of a film. While this may be a sci-fi-zombie-drama (or whatever you'd like to call it), it's our hope that our characters, their story, and their struggles help audiences become more understanding, patient, and compassionate in our world that's overrun by hatred, blame, and an unwillingness to understand others.
While we love horror and fun movies, what we truly hope is to change the world for the better through our film, and by donating, that is what your contribution actually drives.
Risks & Challenges
Creating a film is challenging in more ways than one. No amount of experience can prepare creators for every problem one may encounter on set.
From colleagues not meshing, to equipment failures, to bad weather, there is always something big or small to serve as a blockade in the road. This happens to Steven Spielberg, Quentin Tarantino, and even Christopher Nolan.
Filmmaking is about problem solving, and if we weren't confident that our team could overcome such challenges, then we wouldn't be launching this campaign to begin with.
There is also some beauty to this. Sometimes a light may fail, but it adds a very interesting aspect to the look of your film, or perhaps an actor drops out and you have to choose your second choice, but your second choice turns out to be better than who you originally chose.
We as creators have come to learn that everything happens for a reason, and so long as you keep an open mind, accidents and mishaps may actually make the final product better and more organic in a way that was completely unforeseen.
At the end of the day, anything worth doing in life will never be easy, and difficulty is never a reason to not try to achieve what you want.
Other Ways You Can Help
Some people just can't contribute, but that doesn't mean they can't help.
Sharing this video to all your friends and family, and communicating our message and why we are making this film does more than one might think.
If you find you don't have money to donate, but want to do more than share the video, donations in the form of food, transportation, old clothing, electrical equipment, or anything one might think is useful to a crew of workers on set (be it creative or technical) is also appreciated.
All donation enquiries, or any questions entailing rewards, shipment, or anything else may be emailed directly to either myself, the director, or our producer, Elise Kessler, at these emails.
