Second Update
Volumes have been so good that I'm having to move to a more automated way to sell the book - I can't keep up with the email flow!
The updated 2017 edition of Rich by Retirement is now available on Gumroad in a PDF/ePub version, and on the Amazon Kindle Store.
Update
The book has been released! I send out Indiegogo purchases at least twice a week, usually Sundays and Wednesdays, and more often when that's possible
You can buy it right here if you'd like a Kindle version.
Smart Investing for Singapore: The Book
If you're in Singapore, you're living in an investor's paradise. No capital gains tax; no dividend tax; mandatory retirement savings in your CPF account. But how do you invest smartly when there's so many dodgy investments around? Everyone's heard a horror story about a dud insurance policy that did nothing for twenty years, or a penny-stock punt gone wrong, or a ponzi scheme that ate their hard-earned cash.
There has to be a better way - and there is.
My name's Josh Giersch. For the last five years, I've been the voice of financial reason in the Money Mind forums at HardwareZone.com.sg, keeping people on the right track with their finances, calling out shonky salesmen, and steering investors away from financial death-traps.
I've been asked to turn my knowledge into a book, and that's what this is: an easy guide for the average Singaporean who wants to avoid the traps, dodge the salesmen, and set themselves on the right financial track for a healthy retirement.
The Campaign
I'm raising money for a couple of reasons:
1) To gauge interest in the book! The more responses, the quicker I'll work and the sooner it'll be out there (and the higher the chance of a second edition).
2) To fund some extra work on the book. If I get plenty of responses I'll be able to hire an editor (goodbye awkward spelling mistakes!) and maybe put a nice hardcover edition in the works.
Risks & Challenges
Writing the book will take some time - books always do - and there's a risk that it may take longer to complete than I anticipated (6-9 months for the full publishing cycle, from the first draft to final versions being delivered).
There's also a risk that I may need to pull the book for legal reasons. Financial advice is a legally tetchy field, and Singaporean legal restrictions may mean I need to rewrite the book to change details, or pull it altogether. If the book is pulled, I'll do my best to refund all my backers.
Let's do this!
