Richland Park Government School is a primary school (kindergarten through 6th grade), located on the island St Vincent in the Eastern Caribbean. St Vincent is a mostly rural, farming country with little access to literacy resources because of location and limited monetary resources. As a Peace Corps education volunteer placed at Richland Park, my job is to improve literacy rates at my school. Yet without books and other educational materials this is close to impossible. My goal is to build my school a library and outfit it with books that are relevant to their lives and experiences that both teachers and students can utilize to help improve literacy rates and enrich their lives. But I cannot do this alone. While I'm conducting multiple book and school supply drives in Columbus, Ohio, I need monetary help to ship the books and supplies to St Vincent. Any additional money after shipping costs are met will go to purchase additional books and supplies.
