Why We Rise Up!

Knowing the importance of a proper education and acknowledging the struggle of some parents to properly furnish their child for such a venture, Rise Up Bequia Inc.‘s initiative for the past five years has been to assist as best as we can. Our project began with the distribution of care packages and vouchers to students who were identified as having difficulties in acquiring necessities for school.  However, over the years we realized that the need for school supplies was much greater than we first expected or anticipated and so our annual summer vacation book drive was born.  Last year, 2017, we were able to supply over 350 students from seven schools on the island with notebooks, copybooks and stationery; this being a major step up from the 176 students of 2016 and even fewer in the years before. Unfortunately, because of the limited amount of books we were able to afford there were still students in need who were unable to be gifted with packages.

So as to ensure that no student is left disappointed or ill equipped in their quest to attain education, our goal for this year is to supply books to EVERY student on the island of Bequia. This would definitely be a herculean task and so we are soliciting your support to aid in the accomplishment of this very worthy cause.
